Have installed windows 7 and means crpg now lags unplayably, constant disk access etc.
Have checked virtual memory etc then disabled indexing, auto update, auto checks and its a bit better but still much worse than with xp (drops to 5-30 fps about a third of the time). Checking resource usage on idle goes from 5% to 99% and back constantly.
Any suggestions please or is it just a case of reinstall xp?
Thanks

Yah that's fine for Windows 7.
I'm assuming you've tried the lowest possible settings? Also download fraps and see what you're getting in terms of FPS on highest settings then turn to low and see if there is large improvement.

Thanks will try but on lowest settings looks like playing a game from the 90s.

You can show FPS ingame without any external program, no need to use fraps.

try to run the launcher in administrator mode

I woudln't rely on that, the FPS ingame begin to lag at 80 to 60 already.
Somebody also once said that there are not the real FPS are shown, but the overall performance.

Ah ok, didn't know that.

That's completely wrong, at least in my computer. The game framerate displayed works like a charm, and it's smaller than FRAPS'. Everyone to his own taste.

in-game framerate meter is AVERAGE, not actual..therefore about useless

In-game frame rate meter is actual.

Thanks to any who replied - issue was with a dreadful virus called McAfee which constantly accesses hard drive and scans constantly realtime taking up to 90% of resources turning a fairly powerful PC into something with the capability of something from the 1990s.
Be careful if BT user since somehow this virus has become endemic on their broadband service.
