Title: Left Handed Option for Characters.

Give an option to select "left/right" handed for your character. Then flip all the animations that character has. Sword and board holds the shield in the right hand, lancers hold their lance in their left. 1h left hand spam becomes right hand spam, chambering someone's right swing as a polearm leaves you with a good swing animation, rather than a borked (current left swing) animation. HX/HA can turn their bodies opposite the normal direction without screwing up their aim, etc...

If you've ever dueled someone who uses inverted mouse swings, you'll notice they're somewhat less predictable than others and are also harder to chamber. While this might not be anything like that (aside from cav vs cav, maybe) it basically doubles the amount of animations you have to watch for. Maybe rather than having it be a website option, have it something like an "alt mode" where you press a key, and you change your holding of the weapon immediately, from right hand dominance to left.

I think of it as something like a rightie boxer facing a lefty. Who knows, it might actually add a bit of depth.

Edit: Maybe allow people to switch hands in game for a wpf penalty?

I think that sounds pretty cool if there was the wpf reduction nerf.  If not, it's like assuming everyone is a talented ambidextrous gift from god fighter.

I like the higher diversity, but I would suggest letting it only be changed once a gen (or when you respec), so that it is not abused

Im lefthanded and im always irritated when im lookin on an archer who is wielding it in the wrong hand (in my mind) ... but there were many guys who will just aboose this and take it in the first time to irritate all enemies ... damn abusers.

especially, with my awlpike, swiss or whatever polearm, you mostly hit the friendly on your right when you thrust, maybe of some weird hitboxes or something else but it would be the other side. On the other side you can outstab shielders better because you will stab in from the left to right on their swordarm then from right to the left at their shieldarm. (just talkiing especially about awlpike now)

Fine. But only let it change upon retirement or respec. Choose what you prefer, but dont change it too often.

Being someone that plays horribly against people with inverted mouse directions, I think this will be a nice change that will up the skill ceiling.

I'm right handed almost all seems fine to me but pole arms seem wrong so I will be for adjustment to chose in every category (poles,1h,2h) separately.

That's a fantastic idea. I think it would be decidedly nontrivial to implement, but it would be amazing. It would increase the depth of melee, which is always a good thing.

In a 2v1 with two 1h, the left 1h could switch hands so that both players could use their 'left' swing without compromising their footwork. The reverse would be useful with two polearms.

If you could freely switch between your hands (possibly with a WPF penalty as you said, and likely with a delay during which you cannot block), then it would also add a fair bit of depth to 1v1 combat too.

This will affect gameplay immensely. I'm fine with it, though. Left handed animations will be very powerful until people get used to it.

Edit: I think it should be a semi-permanent change (ex per gen/respec, or at some cost on the crpg website), not something you can switch at will.

Definitely add this but make sure it can't be abused too much with people having the normal setup as it is now as standard. Then being able to change it only when you retire because now you have a son/daughter who is left handed that carries on your name.

Youre right, but they dont got burned, they MUST learn to write with the right hand. BUT were in "middleage" and its always war so fu** the witches we must kill our enemies than our devilness :D

Let people switch stances/ hand dominance in game and base the wpf penalty on WM (it needs a buff anyway).

In the game options, you can set your swings (and/or blocks) to activate with the opposite mouse movement as normal. So, moving the mouse right means you perform a left swing. It's weird to use, but also feels extremely strange to fight against.

People who set their attack direction to 'by inverse mouse direction'. Pretty much, moving your mouse left-to-right does a left-to-right swing. Moving your mouse forward makes your guy thrust forward. Etc, etc.

I play with the traditional inverted mouse (up and down), so when I move the mouse up I look down and thrust when attacking :) , but - inverted left/right - that's weird!

Agreed, it should be a one time thing when you make your character.  Of if you are able to switch in game, you get a huge hit to wpf/powerstrike/powerdraw etc. 

or add a new skill to put points into allowing you to be ambidextrous

Well pretty much everyone agrees that WM is mostly a waste of skill points for melee, so there's no reason why WM couldn't do this as well.

this is a good idea but restricting it per gen for what??? Or losing wpf???? Archery and throwing both require investment into wpf to be effective, What if your an archer you just switched to left hand with half wpf...now your aim is so bad your shooting yourself.

Even though this sounds good on paper, all lefthanded characters will be incredibly OP and lame, until it becomes mainstream, everyone gets used to it and the right/left handed populations are about the same size.

If it really was to be done I'd say only allow it on 100% new characters and maybe in case of a full respec (the auction thing). Once per gen is too much IMO.

IMO don't make it a right/left handed thing if it should be added it should be an alternative mode, like pressing X and then changing from left to right with a tiny delay.

no one will aboze that because peps dont like  to lern the glichymoves again.
BTW that isnt op on any way, thats just something new, same animations but difrent side.

bad idea, would make it really really awkward fighting people. For example, if you had a greatsword and held it in the left stand or the right stance it'd be very very difficult to see which was the dominant side, and thus whether the left or the right swing would be faster.

Once a gen flip, like gender. No fighter is going to go ambi with a bow, sword and shield, or 2h. It doesn't make sense. Also flipping back and forth means left hand is nerfed. I say keep them even so the game is fair for lefty and righty.
