Title: still about shields
Post by: darmaster on August 15, 2012, 08:08:50 pm
sorry it's me again: i'd like to suggest putting the green crescent heather shield's price same as the brown lion heather shield first; secondly i'd like to put 8 resistance on it and 380 hp: i don't mean why it cost's more even if it's worse; and please could you fix the other shield that has the same problem (if there are anymore) like kite shield and green norman shield: the first is much better but costs a few less. thank you for reading

Green crescent is wider, and more expensive because of that. brown lion better vs inf, green crescent better vs ranged.

so you think that

weight: 6.5
body armor: 8
difficulty: 3
hit points: 381
speed rating: 96
shield height: 59
shield width: 25

price 2433

weight: 6.5
body armor: 7
difficulty: 3
hit points: 322
speed rating: 93
shield height: 55
shield width: 29

price 2712

is fair just because the width is higher? what about the height, speed raiting, hit points, and body armor? i would say just add 1 body armor, 58 hp and increase the speed rating so that is the same as the brown lion but with less height and more width, this would have sense imo

exactly. all of those heater shields are terrible in melee.  if you want something better why dont you just make your own green crescent banner and use a knightly heater that will show the banner, heh

If you dont wanna pay extra for a wider shield you dont get a wider shield...
The thing has that price for a reason, and you clearly want it. If you want it so bad just use it...

Like i said, the green one is better vs ranged and thus more expensive. Want a more melee focused shield? take the brown one...
Stats wont get adjusted just because a player doesnt want to pay 200 extra for the shield he thinks has a nice picture on the front...

you keep saying it's wider but you don't say it has other worse stats, and that's not a fair answer. if you have right arguments to use you should say it, but this, excuse me, it's not a valid one.

This is not only a thing with these two.
In top tier, if you look at Heavy Kite vs Heavy Kite:

Heavy Heater Shield
weight: 8
body armor: 17
difficulty: 4
hit points: 460
speed rating: 87
shield height: 89
shield width: 23
4,532
Heavy Kite Shield
weight: 8
body armor: 16
difficulty: 4
hit points: 490
speed rating: 88
shield height: 92
shield width: 22
4,446
Difference
=
+1
=
-30
-1
-3
+1
+86

or heavy kite vs any of the norman its similar.
Same for knightly heater and knightly kite

In general, shield width is payed much higher than any other stat, as it is a big bonus against ranged and melee due to the increase in shield coverage is quite high.

If you dont agree with this, I am sorry, but I find it very reasonable. It is very easy to move your camera up/down to cover your face/feet, but harder to turn, since it makes you move in that direction as well (or move slower by moving to the side).

round shields give best civer vs ranged, even with block down it sometimes block arrows, and more cover from sides is also good, it is just my opinion.
