Title: Gamemode suggestion, 1 life siege.

Started fucking around on siege earlier today, playing only one life per round, once I died I pressed esc, realised how fun siege was when I really REALLY cared about my life, charged up a keep with the main horde, ended up last one alive and ran like a bitch, then joined the 2nd charge, then got shot and lost my last hp, pretty much every round of this was fun, I wouldn't mindlessly charge every chokepoint knowing I had 1000 more lives.
My suggestion is, 2ish attackers for every defender, everyone alive when the flag is conquered/one team is dead/timer runs out gets 2 insta ticks. Really, shit is more fun once you feel like getting hit matters. Ain't got no big explanation of why, don't feel I need one, would you like/dislike this shit, and why?

I doubt siege will get anything new since they are making the new siege gamemode. Sounds cool, though.

I dont think this is compatible with siege. In some maps ranged can easily take you out before you even touch the walls. Apart from that, no one would want to be the first to go on the ladder and a huge kickfest would break lose.

Impossible, defenders with throwing will slaughter attackers first wave. I myself can get 2-3 kills easy throwing 6 axes down a ladder, all hits.

Often takes attackers 2-3 waves to get a foothold onto of ladders.

We all know siege currently is a bit stale, let's wait for this new expanded conquest mode tho.

The way the old 22nd server used to do it up on Native was to give all defenders limited lives (3-5), attackers had infinite.

Nice idea but we cant run 2 siege servers, would be underpopulated and... well thats not fun on siege.

But the old native siege like he said would be nice when the new siege comes...

thought very often exactly the same. Would be tons of fun, but you would have to make perfectly balanced and testet maps for this and scale the amount (or lives) of attackers. It would be very important that the defenders have a big advantage if they use the possibilities of their castle and attacker are much more/ have more lifes.

This will force the defenders to use the choking points of a map. If you dont and die too fast you will get overrun at the end of the round. This does encourage killwhoring on the attacking side though :P

This would require a pretty big numerical advantage for attackers and / or specific maps where attackers won't get slaughtered in the first waves (i.e not forest attack).

Yeah this was fun. Definitely showed who the noobs were. (At the time I was one of them. I still am really.)

They have teh advantage in numbers, since they have unlimited respawns. all you have to do to balance maps is adjust the time per round.

That or you make it a 2 round games. First team one attacks, the time they capture it in will be the target time for team 2. If they are faster they win, if they run out of time before the flag is captured they lose. After that autobalance kicks in and you go for another round. This way defenders will have to be even more careful with their lives, since they have to hold as long as possible with few respawns.

Well I don't remember how long the rounds were to be honest. However if you had 5 lives, (pretty sure it was 5 lives for defenders, been a while since I've gone to the 22nd siege server though) even if you died immediately after you spawned each time, you would "play" for 2 and a half minutes. Now I would assume most people would not die immediately after they spawned so its not like 5 lives couldn't be sufficient for a 5 minute round.

But yeah attackers could throw their lives away but defenders would have to be careful which I think is absolutely fine. Made for a fun game. Definitely against a 1 life siege idea though. Attackers would almost always lose with the kind of maps we have atm.

Tzar is right. I play siege because I want to use most of the time for actual playing. And since siege is the only real gamemode with a relatively fast respawn (besides rageball, but.... yeah) we should at least keep this one. After all you can still try to not die but I think limited lifes would lead to extreme cowarding when it comes to going up a ladder or through a small door.

Another solution would be to implement some small siege maps for battle mode.
