Title: Build Help?
Post by: Dragut on August 09, 2012, 10:02:20 am
Hi, I'm looking for some inspiration for a good build ^^.  I was thinking about 1h with alot of speed, and perhaps a x-bow or bow sidearm.
Any ideas? Tips?

Thanks ^^

I suggest xbow if your looking for a sidearm. Bow requires alot of wpf and skillpoints.

Level 30 (4 420 577 xp)

    Strength: 18
    Agility: 21
    Hit points: 59

    Skills to attributes: 8

    Ironflesh: 3
    Power Strike: 6
    Athletics: 7
    Weapon Master: 7

    One Handed: 140
    Crossbow: 111

Looks good ^^.  Perhaps I could go 15/24 for even more speed? Or would this make me too weak for melee?

1h with speed is a painfull build for a new player.

Crutch str the first run or 2 through then try amping up the agi.

24/15
7IF
7PS
4Shield
5ATH

It's good enough, just stay with the shield wall and try not to smack your own guys with the left swing.

21/15
Get MW and more shield

18/18
Nice and balanced with a chance to put in some throwing or riding.

I wouldn't realy go lower than 18str with 6PS. 1h weapons are notoriously feeble and can leave you wanting for damage. Stick with maces and picks unless you can get a loomed sword (or use the Italian, it's pretty boss).

More speed=less damage

Less damage=More cry

Less damage, but that wouldn't be a problem if you stab you opponent in the face a few times :)
But I think I'm going with 18/24, Haven't decided weapons yet though.

Make sure you check out your build first here: http://infinitum.dyndns.org/crpg/calc.htm

Not sure you can do 18/24 @ 30 with what you wanted to do

The guide is very helpful, thanks.  I think I will do some 'Skip the fun' testing characters, to get to know the different playstyles.

Really? Fantastic! :D (my first character is STF cause I got impatient on being the enemy's snack :p)

You can only do it once a week though (just read that)

I think I'll go with a (offensive) shielder build as mentioned is that guide, but what equipment would you guys recommend?
(weapons only, armor I can decide myself ^^)

edit : Never mind I figured it out :)

If you go low STR, you need a high damage weapon or a weapon with pierce/blunt to compensate, or else you'll need 5 hits or more to down the better-armored enemies. I suggest a pick, hammer, axe or military cleaver. Maybe 3x loomed top tier swords will also work.

Unfortunately my treasure chest isn't nearly as full as I would wish it to be ^^ Very expensive weapons are not really an option.
By the way ; would It be a good idea to sell my first heirloom point just to have enough money to cover anything I would need in regular items and upkeep?

Stacking str isn't a big deal with 1-handers. 1-handers benefit the LEAST from stacked str due to the low initial damage of 1h weapons.

6PS is all you really need.

You can sell your first loom, it's a good idea tbh. But it'll take you a while to get there :P

I'm close enough to that loom point :D
Im thinking of being archer next gen, would you recommend the yumi/rus bow for mid-long range?

Yumi bow is a no for me :P Rus bow is very good tho :)

Yeah It has rather low missile speed, but it looks amazing in combination with strange armor, perhaps even mounted! ^^
And above all it only takes 1 slot.

Yumi is a pretty substandard bow due to awful missile speeds, go for the Rus bow for optimization, or Longbow if you want a REAL bow.  :P
Title: Re: Build Help?

Rus and longbow, though higher missile speed and damage, can't be used on horse and also take 2 slots :o
But I probably won't go HA, due to the cost of horsies; Rus bow it is ^^

Perhaps even crossbow...

Crossbow is an excellent choice if you want to retain your ability to fight in melee.

21/18

7 PS
4 IF
6 Ath
6 WM

for 2H or poles, just split your wpf between crossbow and whatever your melee weapon of choice is.

Or for a more xbow oriented build you can go

15/24

5 PS
2 IF
8 Ath
8 WM

100 wpf in your sidearm
157 wpf in xbows

Even this build can melee quite efficiently, but you'll need better footwork in order to make use of that athletics, and to make up for the lower damage and survivability.

Yes, that's a pretty good idea.

Most importantly though, you should really try joining a clan, as it will help you a lot, especially as you are a new player.
Clanmates are quite willing to give help. They may give you some gold, lend out items, give advices and not to forget; they give you company which makes it a bit more fun to play this game.

Crossbow seems good if I want to have good melee too, but I was also thinking about a HA with decent melee, but I don't even think thats possible.

Any clans that need a new recruit? ^^

If you go HA, try getting a solid HA build (no PS that is).
HA is such a nerfed class that you can't afford making a hybrid kind of HA build, unless you don't care about becoming effective in combat.

Sure
If you are interested joining knights templar, you can apply here:

Mhh I read your rules and stuff, problem is, I was planning on making my next gen a 'samurai' theme HA  :p

Well, that might be a problem

If you like the Ninja/Samurai style you might wanna join the clan "Ninja".
But not if you go HA. Only infantry.
Edit: ...And you need to be a ninja, not samurai (my bad).

But I would guess you are best off with joining clan "GK" (Great Khans).
It's an eastern themed cav clan. They got lots of HA's already.
It's probably one of the most fun clans to play in if you are on horseback.

I'll first get to level 31 and retire, then I will make my decision.
Be sure to save a spot for me in the Templar clan ^^

I would only sell the point if you see a loomed item on the market you wish to buy with the money. There is a KAS for 350K at the moment, but 15 STR won't be much fun with the KAS.

Well I just want to make sure I never have to worry about upkeep or just purchasing regular stuff, after that I think I will keep my loom points just to get that extra punch out of my weapons ^^

The KAS (Knightly arming sword) is indeed a good 1H sword.
IMO the best sword if you play 1H cav and also want to be good with the same sword on foot, which is not the case with the longer arabian cavalry sword.

Picking up a cheap +1/+2 item is good if you plan on keeping the weapon and heirloom it yourself later on.

/Owner of a +3 KAS

You will regret it if you don't get a loom for your loom point. Upkeep really isn't any problem after you've been playing for a while.

Sell your loom point then buy a +1 weapon of choice. They generally go for cheaper than loompoints so you'll get your loom and some spare cash.
