I don't think you have to. I've participated in few battles the last few days and no payment.

Nope you don't have to pay them at all.

Since the payment system pays them with strat gold anyways

I generally pay people at least something if they showed up, fought their best and followed orders.

But payment is pretty much just to be polite, unless they asked for it, in which case not paying them is, well, actually that is still a matter of politeness.

I didnt pay a single gold in strategus ; if you want to get some gold go fuckin grind ; if you are our friend and want to help then welcome. That payment thing is an old stuff.

So, strat payment is fixed now? It hasn't worked for months.
