Title: Minimap
Post by: Tooled on August 06, 2012, 11:16:13 pm
Oh noes, here we go again.
So, I just though I'd share an idea for a map. I think it would be rather awesome if there were a button to view a minimap. This minimap would then show structures, threes and stuff from above, but no players. This could help navigating in fog and on new maps.
Anyone agree, or have any ideas to implent? Please share, and say what you think!

Remove the entire UI would be my suggestion. Definately not more.

This would be a feature which could be turned on by hitting a button. That would be completely up to you if you wanted to use or not. I don't see the problem.

You could explain it is realistic by saying the character you're playing was given a map of the area with buildings and areas marked.
Let it be known that from this day onward, I – Lord Moribund, Burgermeister of Tash Kulun - have ordered the copying of our holy texts to be ceased immediately and entirely. Despite the expected wrath of the church and despite seeing my chances to enter the realm of the father lessen, I have commanded all monastery-scribes to produce maps - so that all my peasant soldiers (that are worth less than the dirt under my fingernails) can go to battle over some meaningless village WITH A MAP!

What a bad idea. This is not a MMO!
After you played a map for one round you will know it forever, you will know any spot on the map and the way to go there. Not like maps are any big or hard to get known. Even with fog it only takes a short time to notice a building which actually let you know which map it is.

as a map maker i say yes to minimap (not on screen all the time, would need to be brought up by a key command or something like scoreboard) that showed NO PLAYERS but just buildings etc...
because otherwise herp derps miss the most obvious routes.
