Title: Why do you want a wipe?
Post by: Taser on August 06, 2012, 05:59:41 am
For all the people asking for a wipe, what do you propose to change about the mod that will make it better?

I refuse to listen to anyone asking for a wipe simply to wipe it. Some men may want to watch the world burn but I don't.

I'd be ok with a change to looms with them only giving cosmetic changes but give reasons why you want the wipe and what would change in the mod to need a wipe.

I haven't seen any real reasons why people want a wipe. People say the mod needs to be changed (and there are some major ones on the way so all this shitposting may be for naught but hey.. let's pass the time) but they don't ususally say why. Or they'll say that a wipe will even the playing field which it doesn't at all without changing xp progression or retirement/looms.

Tl;dr: Gife rewsons 4 wype.

To be freed.

To allow the devs to completely rebuild anything they want to.

To allow shit like the upkeep system to be replaced or reworked, or to see if it actually does work.

....

Now I'm out of ideas.

I'm fine with that but if they are, do the wipe after they're ready to implement changes.

Much like what I think they want to do with the beta they're working on. (the beta for this beta lol). Don't think they have a wipe planned afterwards though.

I'm really of 2 minds about the whole idea. All I really want is more fun added to the game and less cerialz.

I don't want a wipe. Mainly because I finally joined the masses in retiring last year and got me 3 +3 items. Then I stopped that again and I enjoy being high level now. I want to keep both looms and high level.

Buf if they do a wipe, it would only make sense for me if it comes with the removal of current heirlooms (maybe only cosmetic boni).

I would want a wipe if looms get removed.

There aren't gonna be anymore wipes l2read what have been said.

Also if anything needs to be wiped its not characters or looms that would have to go the only thing that would make sense wiping would be gold since upkeep aint working at all thx to billions of gold floating around.

And those billions of gold are made by selling looms.

Selling looms is a zero sum game (technically worse bc of tax).

Back when the market was introduced it was clearly stated that there won't be anymore "wipes".
In that case it was about heirlooms being reset but I mean there wasn't a wipe when crpg changed from the unlimited grind from peasant to god into peasant to normal playing to peasant.

No matter what reasons you got, there is none to actually wipe characters, as long as the system includes any benefit from being high gen and or level it will probably be done via recalculation or some handout IF there ever is a reason to change anything about that.

Wiping people's chars after they put 2000+ hours into them would just be mean.

Only good thing a wipe would bring is shutting up the people that still claim the best players are only good because of their heirlooms.

Also it was hilarious how a single comment in the "hit 35" thread caused this whole thing

So there will never ever be a wipe again. Looms will just be made more equal so MW weapons only gives +0.000001 damage

Now my whole sense in life will be to reach level 36 as first person ever just to make a new thread

Don't think there are or ever were nerfs to heirlooms planned so no probably not.
Read again I'd say ;)

Problem I see is that the market for looms is kinda saturated.
Most people rather sell their loom after retiring than actually heirloom stuff. This leads to an amount of cav and archery ingame which can't be in the interest of the game/gameplay.

The ones selling their loompoints will burn through the money they are spending on their heavy horses and plate faster then the buyers will make an extra ~500k. On top of that add in the ~25k tax for the transaction. We will get to a point where players won't have enough cash to keep buying looms and the price will continue to drop to the point that it isn't worth it. (LPs  have already dropped 100k from about a month or two ago).
