Either he's very environmentally conscious and wants to fight against polution, he wants some type of fog of war to be implemented in strategus, or there's a clan called FOG I'm not aware of.

I believe it's the other way around. Either more fog or the implementation of "fog of war".
He clearly wrote "War on fog, pease" after all.

Pesonally I dislike fog in game. I wouldn't mind to have it removed, just like all other weather effects.
