Title: Food is not racism.
Post by: Murmillus_Prime on August 01, 2012, 08:46:23 pm
Food is not racism, why isn't it racist?

Because a national dish or unique food associated with that nation is part of the pride of that nation, thus to call a French man a croissant, or an Italian a meatball, or a Turk a kebab, is not derogatory, it's a cheeky compliment!

I'm sure most fats and stoner's and fats stoner's like myself would agree.

Celebrate gastronomic diversity or you're a chocolate chip cookie!

Kraut saying he would not be bothered to be called a Kraut. More the context or the atmosphere created by the tone would make a racial insult. Then again depends on what you call others and whom you are talking to, too, i guess.

But why use these phrases, when you dont want to hurt people, even if only a little, ... scratching national pride and getting people stired up on patriotism, making fun of a part of peoples identity. I am not saying that those who would be concerned by such teasing, are not brain tards, but why make a fuzz. Isn't it better to find similarities instead of pointing out what devides people?

EDIT: also i want a Baconator NOOOOW
