WM is currently useless. I think they're changing it to become useful.

this is a good thing for AGI builds especially. Like me!
there are very many STR build users currently and it will soon give AGI users a better benefit.

I'd like to know if such a drastic alteration will warrant a respec free of xp loss, I'm planning on not retireing this time but I want to be sure my build won't be horribly gimped by a lack of WM.

Yup. So if you have no WM, you're fucked. Giving everyone a free respec would be crazy, all those lvl 35 guys would be heavily rewarded.

Only affects your wpf, I think. Nothing else.

Somewhere chadz wrote "expect a total wipe of your wpf/wm when this gets implemented" (something like this, don“t remember where :( )

3. speed up the gameplay
Apart from the above mentioned speed overhaul, we will also implement a new WPF curve, resulting in higher maximum WPF numbers and buffing those with weapon master skills. You can expect your wpf points to be wiped when this happens.

Its the other way around.  WM is gonna be more useful.

Right now, with a melee only build, you get 111 wpf in the weapon skill of your choice.  Sure you can get 150 or 160ish if you max your weapon master on a balanced build, but you could also put those 6 or 7 skill points into ironflesh, or convert them for more stats.

I still use weaponmaster as a melee.  But honestly I had a better gen as a 27/12 armor crutching puutie with maxxed ironflesh instead of WM.  They're trying to make dedicated melee characters have more of an incentive to get it.
