Yesterday i played in Rus 13 AD mod. There is a multiplayer mode named like "Bot general". There were only 2 players I am and one other guy. We had 20 bots in each team. We could manage them like in single player (1-inf, 2-archers, 3-cav, 0 -all; F1 -hold, F2-follow me, F3-charge). It was awesome! It's like Medieval Total War.
So, i have some suggestions for crpg with bots:
1) Add them to strategus battle. Many clans has problems with full rosters. And we will fight in any time of day, cause only one player needs to manage bots.
2) Add bots to crpg battle, make one player in each team commander. After commanders death bots will not listen to orders. They will automatically switch in charge mode. So other players will defend commander if they want to use bots efficiently.
3) Each player can "buy" squire in the shop and use him in battles. He automatically switch in F2-follow me mode, and in F3-charge mode after players death. Player pay upkeep for squire.

Make a server for 20 player, 10 player each team and give those 10 players per team 9 bots each to command (= 200 slot server). Could be fun...

Something like this would be cool,but in normal battle are enough players anyway :)

Would be cool. Not in normal battle but a separate gamemode. It'd be interesting in regular battle though.
However a separate gamemode with this might be interesting. I'd definitely try it and keep playing it if it was awesome.

It works perfectly with MB muskets.
Each player could buy some soldiers at the shop in a specific section.
They could be fixed in a Native style or be customized.
The price could be 5000 for a single soldier ( + upkeep) until 20 000 for a veteran ( depending of his gear and stats ).
They'd respawn with the player , as in other mods. Limited to 5 soldiers.
Their gear/look could be depending of the map. Ex: kerghits vs swades. This could add some Rpg style to battles, not only " heroes fight".
I don't think it is necessary to dedicate some more servers.

Only if that is a new game mode, not battle nor siege nor ctf nor rageball nor duel.
20 slot server at max as well, too many bots make the game laggy and give a heavy fps drop for many players. Impossible on battle EU/NA1 or siege EU/NA2.
At the same time bots usually suck. They also dont have any battle awareness. :P
(unless chadz and cmp are able to code some smart bots --> too much work for nothing)

Was suggested before, after Napoleonic Wars with the commander mode was new.

Let's not dwell into too much details here. I guess we can agree on the idea being really nice in its basic form.
If done, should be a new game-mode.
Rather low bot count per player to allow more humans onto the server (e.g. 5 bots).
Maybe just a fun game-mode w/o gold/xp gain but w/o upkeep.

I like this statement. Now the battle server has only heroes fighting - basicly. With the bots added, we would gain something like a commanding hero. Maybe it would be possible to join a commander as human peasant. Simply done by gear restrictions. Every time a new player joins, a commander gets added until the fix number of commanders per team is reached. After that, every joining player would have to play as peasant under a commanding hero. Balanced replacement of bots, one team after the other, starting at the level based lowest hero. Something like that, guess you get the idea.
But to rejoin reality, it's probably a shitload of work and that slims down the chances of getting this to "none". 8-)

yea and add sill from native singleplayer,
I don't like bots but engineer skill, first aid or looting would be fucking awesome for strat.

I really like commander mode in NW, it's really the only thing worth playing in that. Siege, DM and battle are all inferior to cRPG.

New game mode. 20 player max. Each player has 9 points. Price list:
1 point - peasant
2 points - shielder, 2hander, polearmer, bowman, crossbowman.
3 points - light cav.
5 point - knight.
Money get as usual by multipliers. Upkeep only for player's equipment. K/D statistic works only if player kill another player, not bot and not player in bot's body. Only some open maps available, where bots will not stuck. Bot's equipment should be standart and simple. I think there is not to much work for devs and its works in another mods. This game mode should be very popular.

I have also requested such a gamemode ! But that was before Napoleon and at the time of Fire & Sword was planned.
I suggested the same as you, though I also suggested a Castle vs Castle type of game mode. Where you have to attack enemy castle and capture their flag while defending your own flag.
But I would love a bot and player battle game mode, I totally support this idea !! =D
