It should be rewarding to effectively dodge a few archers on it's own, before being shot to death.
As it is now, archers don't care, since they can go back and pick up their own arrows they shot 30 seconds ago. And dodging arrows for 30 seconds from more than 2 archers is a feat.
I'd like to make arrows on ground (and NOT quivers, just arrows that MISSED their target) to disapear a bit faster, to reward archers caring about where they aim and shooting carefully, instead of machinegunner with only bodkin arrows that know they'll eventually pick up all the arrows they see.
I don't remember what's the time at the moment, but i'd like to drastically reduce it.
Since you can't decide to BREAK arrows on the ground, as a melee user (wich feature could be really awesome, but unfortunately probablty hard to code), making them last less time on the ground is sensible.
Please give your thoughts. And comments.
Edit : Btw, my main is an archer. And yes it's easy to pick up spare arrows on the ground. But i don't care, since i carry 2 stacks, and i "kill" ennemy archers, and can loot "their" arrows. Should be that way.

I totally agree with the idea. As you said, it's about rewarding skillfull players, not giving more chances to the agiwhore archers to gun them down.
+1

Its pretty unrealistic that arrows which embedded themselves in a stonewall can be pulled out and used again. On the other hand its also unrealistic that you cant pull arrows out of soft, fleshy corpses to use them again. Evens it out I'd say.

Pulling arrows out of bodies? Precisely, the danger of arrows in medieval age was the fact that you could broke it when extracting it, dooming the victim to death.

IDK, it'll make archery more useless.
Ranged builds are only useful so far as they have arrows, what would my 1 bodkin quiver longbowman do if he couldn't pick up arrows? We'd probably end up with more arrows in each quiver for ballance.

Doesn't really even it since you don't have 50% accuracy, and there's more arrows that miss, than arrows that hit.

More useless ? Okay, to start, archery is not useless.
Second, you can pick up quivers of dead archers. So even if you only spawn with one quiver, you can shoot more than what you started with. Wich is already interesting.
Or you can consider changing your equipment depending on the maps, like a lot of players do :
-melee comes quickly : 2 slot bow, 1 slot arrow, 1 slot melee weapon
-melee goes in circle, i have time to shoot and to pick up decent melee weapon : 2 slot bow, 2 slots of arrows, 0 slot shitty melee weapon.
Bringing only one quiver, (even more of bodkin arrows) , totally makes you less usefull as an archer. Then again, if you're bringing a 1 slot melee weapon, it's your own fault.

I think it's the devs fault that non kiting builds make less efficient archers. you must also remember that archers will often switch to melee before they die and their corpses are not always at hand, but I agree with adapting to the map.

Bump. I'd love to have more views on this subject, and people to explain why they vote "no".
