Title: Guys and shoes
Post by: Rumblood on July 26, 2012, 10:25:27 pm
A short guide for women on men based upon something that they understand. Shoes.

You can trace the development of your young man by watching him as he grows up and progresses through his attitude towards shoes.

Hates shoes and won't wear them. - This can go anywhere from the toddler stage to time for kindergarten. Has been spotted into the late 20's. (Run from them!)

Tolerates shoes, but they are all the same to him. - Oh the joyous time from when he will wear them without immediately taking them off when your back is turned until he realizes that people care about what other people put on their feet.

Will only wear ONE style/brand of shoe, be it at the mall or in a tuxedo. - The "My shoes identify my clique/social group" stage. This period can last for decades. Sometimes it continues that long from sheer inertia.

Will wear any shoe so long as its cheap. - Has wearied of the whole "shoe as a status symbol" thing and moved on to practical things like saving money. This is a good time to swoop in and begin to mold a future mate. Or perhaps he got so old that his style isn't even made anymore. Then you may need to run. That guy is as likely to suddenly try in his 30's or 40's to pick a newer trendy style and just look old and pathetic instead.

Realizes cheap shoes suck and begins to look for quality shoes to last decades. - This guy is ready for committment and he understands that you want to be comfortable in life, not cheap. He knows what he likes and won't be as easily molded to a particular ideal. Step back one stage if you find you want to do a major rework.

Is dissappointed to find that not every shoe goes with every article of clothing. Cleans out the bottom of the closet to make room for rows of high quality shoes. - Be careful if he makes it to this stage. Your man could easily go Metro and provide actual competition for the household's clothing budget. He could also have found his latent homosexual tendencies and be seeing a guy name Chet on the side. Either way, you need to keep any eye on him and steer him back to safer, manly territory. Try buying him some power tools.

If you are having a problem with your male, just refer to the stages above in order to understand his prevailing philosophy in life. You may be able to hasten him along to the next stage, but do notice that some stages can take decades and you may waste years in the trying.

I have developed an issue where I can only bring myself to purchase trainers ( sneakers ) that are pure white, no other colour on them, my favourite being low top Air Force 1's,  all my shoes are black also. Well, I just find brown shoes wierd and no other colour is smart, where black is smart and goes with pretty much everything.

Oh boy, I know some people who wear these even in the summer, here it's like 30-35c, even more sometimes.

You can guess how that "feels" like to others around them. It's like an aura of death. xD

During the winter, if you find one that perfectly fits you ( I found this very hard with boots so I don't wear them), they are very useful though.

You forgot the "Uses cheap shoes because he lives on 150 euros a month after rent."  :(

True Finnish quality boots are one size fits all.

I had problems finding a military boot that fits good. The basic Finnish army boot is quite fitting and all, but these are paratrooper version. That means they have better shock absorption and more flexible rubber in the bottom. Best 130 euros I've ever spent on shoes I tell you that! Actually really close call with Asics sneakers I bought... But they are only for jogging (and that reminds me I have to start that hobby again...)

Well I use those paratrooper boots sometimes in summer because you know... Summer in Finland :D. They are somewhat water resistant so it's nice feature to have :D.

You wear flat feet? :D

Yeah, wish I had the same climate.

I wish that those fucking trees would stop fucking each other so I can breathe again. Worst thing about this so called "summer city" of Oulu. Goddamn hippies plant their super weird trees everywhere and they usually spread their annoying and allergy spreading dust everywhere the whole summer. Different species and different fuck times... Can't wait for the fall :D

Do you use socks with sandals? If so I have bad news for you.

You have a point when it comes to walking bare feet. I've heard it's not only good for the skin but also for the walking technique. That has good effect on other things like reducing back pain/problems and other stuff.

But gravel is very healthy to walk on. Sure it takes time to get used to it, but it cured my flat feet.
Just avoid cig butts, broken glass, narkoman syringes, sea hedgehogs, sharp stones, hot asphalt, dog crap, bubblegums, bureks, kebabs...

Pretty much the only kind of shoes I ever wear. I'm in the cheapo phase and you can usually pick up those for £10. I just wear the same pair till they break apart then spend another £10.

Don't you facepalm at me you Swede! I couldn't figure what word to use there but I often see some attention whores using Adidas handbags, sneakers and hoodies. Never seen one using Nike or Asics bag for example. Ok those cider bitches aren't "fashion people", but they sure do seek for social acceptance...

I mentioned adidas running shoes as a type of footwear, so you can search and see what I mean. I care for the model, not the brand.
Seriously, I barely leave the house, what do I care for social acceptance?

and you no longer need to worry about those things. And yeah barefoot walking and running are healthier than 'high-tech' supporting running shoes. Barefoot forces you to walk the right way or it will hurt, and when you move the right way it will save your joints, foot and back. Lamest thing i know in the world is when doctors recommend using even supportier shoes if you have flat foot, that way you only ruin your arches forever.

If that was an attempt at being witty, you might have to try harder. But I don't blame you, Latvia and comedy is not something that should be mixed. :P

Also, work on your reading comprehension. I made no implication that I take fashion advice from my grandparents. But I'd take theirs over yours any day, that's for sure.

Still, cargopants are hazardous to one's sex life(not like ptx has ever boned a girl, fucking permavirgin). Throw them away now while you can!

And if you like cargopants, you'd like khakis even more. Comfortable, most people think they're good looking and breezy, wear them during summer no problem.
