Just to beginn with, this is my first map, so some opinions and suggestions to improve it are always welcome. 8-)

Forest Attack:
Version: 1.2

This map generally is a standart siegemap. attackers spawn in a forest near a castle which contains the flag in the middle.
They can access the Castle via a ladder, a "to be opened"-maingate and a backdoor. i added some breakable doors in the way, so it shouldn't just be a rush map.
Also you can access the walls from nearly everywhere inside the castle, via several stairs and things like that, so it should be possible to defend the walls against ladders more easily.
I added quite a lot of small details to this map, because the most ones seem so empty and dead in my opinion. i didn't see any perfomance losses at my Pc though.
The playable part of the map is not that big, so there should be quite some action going on. It's totally sourrounded by invisible walls btw.

actually i don't know what mod i used, it was too lang ago :( i'm sorry.

Looks nice, uploaded it.
Some early critic:
-There is a hole in your barriers close to the (attackers view) most right windmill. If you want to barrier that much, just use the "scale" field to stretch one barrier, instead of placing multiple small ones. saves work.
- Excalibur in plain sight, hide that thing somewhere in the forest :o
- The riverbed is pretty "rough", you should smooth it a little bit to remove all the spiky things in there

i'll test it for ballance and correct those issues, only with the sword i'm not sure :)

The awning on the castle wall near the river is a very vulnerable spot for ladders.  Any ladders placed up there give the attackers both a quick drop down to the flag (-some health) and a great sniping position.  I haven't played the map yet, so this is just what I can see looking at the screenshots.

i thougt so too, but actually the defenders seem to be in advantage atm.

Why is the map 1MB large? Because of the texture pack? It took forever to download...

actually i don't really knwo why. it could be, that the actuall mapsize is about 5 times bigger than the played one, or that i simply put in to much details.
i'll try to get the mapsize nearly as small as the actuall played one and remove a large number of details.
i hope i'll get it to work.

ok now i know why the file is that big. it's not the great bunch of 3d objects, i simply changed to much on the ground itself. i'll have to look for some acceptable solutions now :(
the best would be a way to get the new terrain code. but i haven't even a clue if this is possible.

WOW nice! Very woodish/english town or warhammer empire town inspired  8-) at least my opnion.

I like those warhammerish emperish towns in the darkwalden there evil dwells  8-)

i'll have to look how the balance works out, after some weeks playing and improve it.
so it's somewhat of a beta version now.

Hey mate, sorry for reviving the thread, but would it be possible to you tweak the map a bit now that ladders have been removed from the servers?

As i asked to jacko:

Hey jacko, since you might have been afk on IRC for a long time I'll post here my feedback on one of the maps in Siege rotation.

It's actually not a C map, it's most specifically the Forest Assault map, which is very unbalanced now without ladders. It's very easy for defense to keep the only 2 entrances very well blocked and guarded all the time.

Perhaps an extra ladder on the left wall would be a good addition (with some additional small tweaks to safeguard defense).

Tell me what you think about it, I'll pm Cohen regarding it since he's the map creator.

If you don't have the time, I can easily tweak it a bit, all credits are yours, it's just to balance things a bit.

map is fine as is now that siege ladders are not useable

there are 4 ways to get inside the main gate and 4 to get inside inner walls, no need for even more ways

There's a ladder in front easy to block several proceeding doors, and a backdoor where the second door only 1 person at the time can hit.

Not to mention that all the defense entry points are close to the flag due to the map being relatively small.

I'll post pics in a few then.

Well, so far I haven't had a problem with the map. It's defender biased, but adding another ladder would (imo) make it too easy for attackers; they already have such a short way to the flag from the initial spawn.

I can give the changes a try, but I fear it will favor the attackers too much.
