Hii there,
Was playing siege, and no one noticed the flag going down.
In strategus we have it already, a warning when your spawn flags are taken down.
So why not such a message in siege?
Warning, your flag is being captured!
-
Bad idea, if defs cant care by themselves then they are just fuckin bad and should loose.
-
There is a lot of rage in the servers about players fighting on walls when flag gets captured, this might help a bit :P
-
good idea but also bad idea, no more sneaky ninja flag captures. defenders must teamplay and communicate, however, at most of the times, half of the players are fucking noobs & retards who don't care about friendlies' warnings.

Well, people should think by themselves, we also dont have things like
Warning, incoming couch at 9o`clock
Incoming leftswing
Or stuff like that,
I keep my hud on a minimum, just round time and money/multi,
no healthbar and stuff and dun wanna get it spammed
with messages like in a fuckin space game...

Haboe, the forums aren't for posting ideas, come on man what were you thinking!
Anyhow I don't mind it. Don't think its 100% necessary but wouldn't mind it either.
-
Could take or leave it, I don't mind how things are now but I wouldn't mind if it told you either.

Elindor sometimes you seem extremely arrogant and hurt.
-
I +1'ed the op as it is a good idea however it needs some thoughts as it is quite true, that this gives defenders an "advantage". At the same time attackers could get an info at the same time to know if there were defenders at the flag or not. ;)
Sneak in attacks are part of siege and most of the times it is the players fault as they just don't defend the flag in time.

hmm, no not at all...was sarcasm.
he had a simple idea that was met with a rather harsh answer so i was just messing around :)

My comment wasn`t meant in a harsh way, I just name things rather direct than talkin around em ;-)

If the defenders get caught with their pants down, it serves them right in my opinion.
Although, there's already warnings about the gates being opened and closed, so this isn't entirely without precedent.

stupid stupid idea

As has been mentioned, a resounding no on this idea.
I get why you're suggesting it and its not your fault. Many people dislike siege because people play it like its a real siege and that you should defend the walls like a hollywood movie or a TDM while ignoring the flag. I've been pissed off often enough by this when there's 4 people at the flag trying to hold off 15 attackers and spamming "flag" in team chat and no one comes.
Its more the fault of the players and a lack of a plan on the defense's side. Ninja taking of the flags is awesome as an attacker and sucks as a defender but it is the responsibility of the defending side to protect that flag and if they don't mind it and ignore it, its completely their fault when no one's on the flag to defend it when it's taken.
So again, I understand why you're suggesting this but I'd be against it.

I like the idea, it would help out people who aren't in a clan be able to defend in at least a slightly more organized fashion.
You can't honestly expect a bunch of random people on siege to be able to communicate well together and devise plans, especially without voice com. Chat is also very easy to miss while in the middle of a fight. Yes, it's the defender's job to guard the flag and keep an eye on it, but without a clan structure and voice com that's not so simple.
-
What zerran said!
Also: the exact same argument of "defenders should watch their flag" can be used in strategus battles, but there you also get a warning. And in strat you do have tactics and players following commands, so why not use it in siege where players dont listen to normal commands?
-
You mean the flag that you spawn from in strat? Unless you mean something else, I don't see how that applies to siege.
And besides, if they don't communicate well or defend the flag well, they didn't deserve to win. Simple as that.

nothing further to add

This suggestion will make it harder to ninja the flag (still possible, but a bigger chance you get caught doing so).
Thats why i suggested it, + this:

I think the idea is good. On many maps you cant see the flag if you're defending other positions. Also there is the message "RandomPerson opened/closed the gate" which is usefull too imo. So why not add this.
