yeah theres really no skill in pvp in this game, even tho its a shooter. getting shot through walls, 3rd person view to see around corners, getting 1 shot from a bush other side of map... both killing people and getting killed is boring because of this. I mean when is it actually challenging? I've come up on a 3 man group with a winchester, the only exciting part was looking through each body for loot, its not like people can put up a fight when all I have to do is come up behind and click 3 times. I hope its a bit different in the standalone otherwise I can't see it having the longevity they are aiming for.

heres a couple ideas how to help make it more challenging pvp, by generally making it more difficult to kill someone and not just a point and click.

infact think im gona go post on dayz forums see how much hate I can accumulate.

No hate but this is just what would be happening in a real life situation.

But I agree with you on the 3RD person view / crosshair : thats why except to play with friends on a certain server, I prefer to go to [EXPERT] tagged ones

  • They need to make weapons alot less accurate, assume survivors are civilians not trained soldiers. (see project reality bf2, taking your time and managing recoil is how to win a fire fight not just putting cross-hair on the enemy)
  • Sacrifice some realism in terms of weapon damage (not have people die to 1 shot to body)
  • Enforce first person view - no crosshairs, only shooting accurately through iron sights. (aka vetern mode only)
  • better 3d sound? idk about you but in other games I can actually tell which direction im being shot from, and when a zombie is screaming its impossible to tell how close it is on sound alone. better 3d would mean aggressors could be located.

infact think im gona go post on dayz forums see how much hate I can accumulate.

So im not the only one that could never tell which god damn direction the shot came from?

hm, the 3d sound thing is actually a massive prob atm. if you're running through the forest and you hear a zombie its impossible to know from which direction the sound comes...and yeah, I've also been shot multiple times without having the slightest idea where it came from

Me I never had problems spotting the origin of a gunfire; I mean, its like everyone have their own IRL audition skill at trying to pinpoint a certain sound: sometimes I'm wrong and my teammates are right, sometimes I'm right and my teammates are wrong about where it comes from. Maybe the 3d sound is intentionally hard to analyze ? If not, me too I would like it to be clearer.

The problem that seems to be with sound in arma II: OA / day z is that it's not dynamic.

For example:

A shot fires from your 3, you look to your 3 oclock, but the sound is still in your right ear mimicking as if it's now at your 6.   The sound plays from one direction and keeps it there regardless of your orientation.

A good way to mess around / test it is when a church bell goes off, spin around and see what happens.
