Title: Downloading custom banners
Post by: tizzango on July 17, 2012, 12:25:55 am
Whatsup homies, I had an enquiry about the automatic download of new custom banners everytime we launch the cRPG launcher. Do we actually download them client-side or is it server-side?  If it is client side that could rack up outrageous amounts of gigabytes over time.   If this is the case, shouldn't we try to tackle that problem for the communitahhh!!

gigabytes? What. There isnt an unlimited amount of custom banner slots, therefore they also get replaced by time if one clan buys a banner slot, another clan used before.

They aren't that big either.

I'm aware that there isn't an unlimited amount. I was merely asking if we constantly download different banners (.jpgs, .pngs or whatever), and if that is the case we will eventually stack up a lot of data- I had a similar situation in a previous community where we were constantly downloading custom model skins and eventually our folders had like 10gb of skins noone used anymore.

I think they are getting replaced. But I'm not sure, maybe watching the data in the texture folder is worth it. Currently those are 513 kb big for me. (unless I check the wrong ones)
