Riding continues to bring benefits.
You will go faster and be more maneuverable.

Basically, you can use this LIGHT cavalry build with lance (normal lance, not light):
Level 30 (4 420 577 xp)
Strength: 9
Agility: 30
Hit points: 44
Converted: 8
Ironflesh: 0
Power Strike: 3
Shield: 0
Athletics: 0
Riding: 10
Horse Archery: 0
Power Draw: 0
Power Throw: 0
Weapon Master: 10
One Handed: 1
Two Handed: 1
Polearm: 190
Archery: 1
Crossbow: 1
Throwing: 1
Or become horse crossbowman (really accurate, same accuracy with full speed on courser with 10 riding as standing still) and here you'd use light crossbow:
Level 30 (4 420 577 xp)
Strength: 7
Agility: 30
Hit points: 42
Converted: 4
Ironflesh: 0
Power Strike: 2
Shield: 0
Athletics: 0
Riding: 10
Horse Archery: 5
Power Draw: 0
Power Throw: 0
Weapon Master: 10
One Handed: 1
Two Handed: 1
Polearm: 1
Archery: 1
Crossbow: 190
Throwing: 1

I have 12 riding. I like riding horses :}

Amen to beast lover, you must be a true friend of horses, possibly the most pure cav I have heard of after the big patch. I would hate to meet you on the battlefield as a HA, as I would only get a few shots before you closed with me. I used to have 6 ride with 36 agility in the old patch.
Max for skills is 15, and you can't raise it past that so the benefit stops there. Another common misconception is that the benefit is tied to the riding requirement of the horses, but it is not tied at all. Max for stats seem to be 60 and max for wpf is absurdly high (600+), but with this patch no one is going to reach these levels.
So keep on adding that riding.
