Even though i have played cRPG for some time now, i have never been in any faction or took part in Strategus...
So i made this spam topic, to hear a bit more about both :) Yes, i could use Google, Forum search, etc. I do understand the concept of Strategus, and am familiar with most of the "populated" EU factions/guilds/teams.
Just a few quick, specific questions:
- Any date on Strategus re-launch?
If i understand correctly, Strategus is down for patching of some sorts.
- Do i have to be in a faction, to join Strategus?
Or can i ride around freely, until someone kills me? :)
- Are there any dedicated cavalry factions in EU?
Golden Horde/Mongols dedicated, like - "if i am fighting on foot, my horse is dead".

Strat is down...you don't have to be in a clan to do everything in strategus, in fact, there will be many players living out their dreams of banditry. And I can't answer that last one, but scouring the Faction Hall thread more than likely will.

Eastern Tsardom used to have plenty of horsemen.
There's LLJK. Lolno.
Try one of the smaller, themed clans.

Whalen, I think he's EU, at least, I never seem to see anybody wailing "NOOOO REBEEEECAAA" occasionally when crossbows decimate all cav on the field :D.
For your questions, A_S, :
1) Strategus is currently down. According to rumors, it will be brought back up with a "soft" restart, meaning Territories stay the same, but gold and troops are reset, for the purposes of testing. After it's been bug tested, there will be a complete wipe, and an insane land rush. We have no timeline, which is a great source of amusement for the devs in the IRC chat room.
2) There SHOULD be no need for a faction. You will be able to ride around, make money, cause trouble, and get killed all on your own. Factions are recommended because you can make vast amounts of gold, cause cataclysmic levels of trouble, and get killed among friends. If you really want to hold some lands, and be announced as a Noble (in Regal Purple!) when you play cRPG, you'll need faction members to help you take land and keep it.
3) There were/are a few around, but a lot of small clans have kind of died out in the long, long wait for Strategus. For Strategus, I recommend either joining a small clan, or starting one. Even if you just have 4 or 5 members, you should be able to hold a fief or two, if you make strong alliances and choose your enemies wisely. Just don't be one of those people that allies with EVERYONE, having an enemy is both healthy and rewarding.

Great Khans nah? http://forum.c-rpg.net/index.php/topic,2417.msg40502.html#msg40502 (http://forum.c-rpg.net/index.php/topic,2417.msg40502.html#msg40502)

Well, AFAIK there are no EU Cavalry dedicated clans, but if you're looking for a clan who do cavalry tactics together, Crusaders of Acre might be for you. :D
And Strategus will be better for people who aren't in factions... that is if it ever comes back up :/
EDIT: Oh yeah, the Khans.
