i'm using 30k gold equip whole time and i've gone down more than 50k gold!
I know its a luck system but surely going down 50k is absurdly unlikely.
people say you can use 35k gear on average. I know my 1h skill is 55 and im using a 8k pick axe, but it still seems way extreme. I used to use ~50k gear (long time ago) and still earn money.
only other possible reason I can think of is my crappy kdr: 0.9
-
lol anyone saying you can use 35k gear and make money is trolling or silly
I try to stay around 25k. The only way you can use 35k and make money is if you're rolling the x5 all the time.
Currently I use 31k but I usually roll with a clan so I get more multis than if I was playing alone. If I'm by myself I use 21k gear.
-
You can make money with any gear, it is possible. Even though if you would go above 60k you would need either lots of luck or x5 quite often.
I never lost any gold when I was at around 30-40k gear - usually my multiplier is also above x1.
It's unlikely you're losing gold but if you do, go down with the value.

I roll with 38k worth of gear and I make money, quite a lot when on x5 actually.

it does matter with whom you play. as a nord, you can maintain an above average multi.
banok, maybe you want to sport a well organized clans' banner.

Uh that's not possible anymore
-
With around 30k gear one should be able to break even or gain a little.
I regularly lose money with my usual, slightly under 50k loadout.
-
Let me guess - you have a ....
HORSE?
-
Horse repair chance should be reduced by the riding skill of the rider.
(or is that in already?)
-

I had no idea : )

Quite right.

I'm not sure high riding skill needs more rewards. And upkeep is the one thing keeping cav lines thinner. Even if in practice that means that everyone takes a horse for the open plains map and collects money during closed city maps.
I have no idea if it's already in, though. Does anyone have this information?
-
I'm not saying it should decrease the chance for repairs by a lot tho
-
Alright.
-
Not sure how accurate this is but:
1wpf is about 11% [chance of breaking] where as 140 is 2.5% [chance of breaking] so it does make a difference.
If you have only 55 wpf + armour you might only be at like 20-30 wpf effective, so have a higher chance for the weapon to break. It only counts your highest melee weapon wpf though, so if you have 100 in polearm it will count as 100wpf for 1 handers repair chance too.

I downgraded to a nordic short sword but i'm down another 10k. been x5 alot too. but yeah maybe I should be lame and just grab byz flag or something dont think they are exclusive atm
previous gen I had 40k gear as cav and made money, I think its just because as archer you never get valor nearly as much as mele.

Correct me if I´m wrong...
but I never go for cav when on 1x multiplier and in a losing team (or in the team were most of the Pro´s are NOT), taking an "eco horse" like rouncey, steppe or even desert horse may please cav diehards in such a situation
I switch to cav when on (2x) /3x/4x, and at 5x it´s even worth to have a ride with an armored horse, but if the round is lost the costs explode (same with expensive armor)
Guess they will change the repair scheme soon?
Nice threads here on that topic

last time I checked they wanted to redo the gamespeed, horses, melee dmg types, ranged, repairs, strat and a few other things...
also, afaik we're still on the "old" warband version
-
do hierlooms DEFINITELY not effect upkeep? I know repair cost is same but it seriously feels like repair chance on hierlooms is the reason why i am bleeding gold out of my ass.
I downgraded and am using 23k equipment, but still not even making profit after a few entire maps of x5.
-
Try some rounds without the heirlooms.
-
I think something is just buggy with upkeep the last few days, atleast on NA Siege. 2 nights ago I had upkeep on every item, every round, of every match for almost 2 hours straight. Luckily I was at x4 and x5 most of the night so It broke even. Then last night, I played for 3 hours and did not have upkeep once. Not a single time.
So yeah, no clue whats going on lately.
-
Try using 57k loadout, I lose a lot of money every gen...I'm hoping to retire one last time, sell my loom and then never retire again...I assume I lose anywhere from 50-100k every 8.5 million xp
-
There might indeed be a bug at works. Some other dude posted some weeks ago that he's losing a lot of gold on a reasonably priced loadout. Maybe try changing all your gear to non-loomed stuff, but make it be roughly the same in value and see if you still lose gold. It could also be interesting to write down all repairs for a while.

At first, reading the topic, i didn't understand how it could be possible to loose money with only 30k gear. Then i saw this

First, yes, to get valor, you need to effectively block and stay close to some melee opponents, so it's harder for range.
Secondly, arrow's breaking chance is HUGE ! So using two quivers of bodkin arrows is a sure moneysink ! (even with using one of bodkin and one of tatar, i still effectively loose money)
Welcome to the hard world of an archer.
Fun fact, i loose money on my 30k archer set.
I win money on my 45k cav lancer set.

That's kind of porked.
-
My gear is less than 20k. I'm rakin' in fat stacks, son!
-
44k worth of full +3 heirloomed gear and I break even/slowly make money.
-
Full palte with knightly arming sword and dusty and I've only lost 45k going from level 18-26.
-
since I've changed to 23k gear I've only lost 3k but i have been on x5 alot so...

if this is true then mystery solved, that would explain it as I am using x2 bodkins. but that doesn't make any sense, why would arrows be secretly coded to break more? they could have to increased the price of the arrows so it works like everything else.
luckily 1mill to retire, switch to mele and make money in 50k gear ;/
-
Banok that really is the case, its nearly imbossible to make money with 2 stacks of bodkins, they tend to break allmost every round :/ Even with tatar's it can be slow to make money, but atleast u an make some :)
-
They break more often because they are too "strong"!!!11
Archers are overpowered anyway if you trust most threads on this forums. ;)
-
Yep. It's because of bodkins. I remember when playing as HA, I lost craploads of money in that gen *hrr*.
