Title: Recommend me some Movies!
Post by: Niemand on July 08, 2012, 02:06:13 am
Oiz!

Since I ran out of good movies I could watch, I need YOU to recommend me some.

I dont need you to recommend stuff that I dont like, so please do NOT recommend movies that fulfill one, more or all of these attributes:
- Horror-Movies (especially american teenage-horror-stuff like "I know what you did last summer")
- Splatter/Gore (I am bored by this stuff. does not entertain me.)
- Porn (I got enough stuff to watch. Also it would be inappropriate in this forum.)
- Amateur-Movies
- B-Movies (or worse trash)
- Love/Romance (I always get jealous. :( )
- Gaymovies (nothing against it but i dont wanna watch such stuff.)
- Old Movies (most stuff before 2000 is too old for my taste... and 1990 - 2000 they made lots of trash)
- James Bond-Stuff
- Movies with those Actors: Jackie Chan, Tom Hanks, Van Damme, Schwarzenegger, tbc...
- Drama
- Documentations/Biographies
- Boring Movies
- German Movies (there are only a fistful of good german movies. and I already saw those.)
- German-Dubbed Movies (I prefer to watch movies in english or original-language.)
- Dancing-/Music-Movies
- Musicals
- Disney
- tbc...

So!

Bring it on! Entertain me! :O

Watch Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me. It was made in the 90s and if you read a short description/summary of it you wouldn't be interested in it, but it's incredible. Absurd, surreal, fucked up, chilling, all in one. You won't like it if you don't like art-house type of films though.

I'm pretty sure this thread would have caught on faster if you didn't include your movie filter.

No drama, nothing pre 2000, nothing "boring"..You are probably better off going on IMDB and searching top voted by decade or Action or something.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo - Dark, witty, and suspenseful throughout.
Limitless - Light but well done action and enthralling themes on intelligence.
The Prestige - Detailed characters, brilliant acting, goes out with a bang.
Pans Labyrinth - Adventurous, fairy tale like qualities, but captures them very well and maturely.
Memento - Thought provoking and interesting first person narrative.

I also recommend checking out some anime movies like Howl's Moving Castle, and Spirited Away; they're beautifully done.

The Man From Nowhere - Foreign film. The cinematography and plot is gripping, excellent, and exciting. The writing's corny inone or two scenes but that's probably due to translations.

Battle Royale - Another Foreign film. Pretty violent and nutty.

While we're at it, can anyone recommend me any thrillers or suspenseful movies with an engaging plot, and something that makes me think? I want a movie to shit all over me with suspense and excitement.

God Bless America, fucking epic movie. A guy and a chick are killing dumb Americans for FUN. Only the knife scene is bloody, so don't worry, no more serious gore afterwards.

It would. but then I would have a lot of recommendations that I dont need/want. Sorry to limit the choice of recommendable movies, but this is for me, not in general. ;)

Old boy
Played with the thought of watching it. But it somehow never caught my interest. :(

Ironclad
Nice recommendation. I liked that one, too. But I've seen it already. Maybe I will watch it again... - If you haven't already, you could check out "Kingdom of Heavens".

Limitless is a good movie. - Already seen. About the other four movies I gotta think/see. Thanks.
To the anime: I liked "Princess Mononoke", but those kinds of anime are somehow too weird for me. I like stuff like "Ghost in the Shell" or "Plastic Little" more. (Means: Stories where no little kids are getting drawn into some weird dreamworlds.) ;)

The Man From Nowhere - Foreign film. The cinematography and plot is gripping, excellent, and exciting. The writing's corny inone or two scenes but that's probably due to translations.

Battle Royale - Another Foreign film. Pretty violent and nutty.
"The man from Nowhere" does seem interesting. [EDIT: Found out I already saw it. :( But yah, its good.) I saw both parts of "Battle Royale" already. The first one is better, since the story is original. But the second one is worth a watch, too.

God Bless America, fucking epic movie. A guy and a chick are killing dumb Americans for FUN. Only the knife scene is bloody, so don't worry, no more serious gore afterwards.

Sadly you are too late. ;)

Try "Ides of March". Hope you like Clooney...
No Problems with Mr. Nespresso.

Thanks so far. Didn't think to get that much useful recommendations. :D

HA! Nice one! :D

(The joke. dunno about the movie... is it worth watching? or some boring espionage-stuff for old men? like James Bond or "Tatort"?)
