Title: What kind of build should I try next?
Post by: Duckzern on July 06, 2012, 09:43:02 pm
So I'm playing 2H, and I'm soon done with my second Gen and I've tried the balanced builds 21/18 and I'm currently 18/21, I'm thinking about trying 24/15.

I would like to see some interesting builds, and maybe a few pointers on how to use the builds.

15/27: 5 PS, 9 ATH. 3 skill points leftover for shield, weapon master, or ironflesh. I recommend Ironflesh.

Fun build, especially with a Longsword.

I like 21/21 for 2h build.

However, I sacrifice IF for the few points in WM.

I'm a hybrid build and it allows me to counter almost everything.
I'm fast enough to catch pretty much anyone.
I hit hard enough to not glance or take 3598765 hits to kill someone.
And I'm super balanced and do well in most situations.

One of my builds.

15/24 (convert 8 Skills points to Attributes)
5 Power Strike
8 Athletics
8 Weapon Master
and then 2 Skill points left over for whatever you want.

WPF:

Twohanded - 135
Crossbow - 130

Or put WPF in whatever you would like.

Being a hybrid takes away from the boredom of the stretch at the end. It allows for versatility and situational options.

24/18 lvl 30

8 ps 6 ath

and either 3 IF or 3 WM

kind of a glass cannon build maximum 65 hp if you take the 3 IF, relatively fast and hits nice and hard perfect for the shorter pierce or blunt weps or even the axes.

Build a build around the weapon you want to use, Try a longmaul build, or a 18/24 MW Hunting Bow with MW bodkins

Fun build, especially with a Longsword.

This, with Goedendag or that studded baseball bat club. Goedendag is ideal because it's pretty long at 117 reach, and the blunt damage with speed bonus is hilarious. Expect a good deal of knockdowns. Play to your strengths: use your range and your speed, choose your fights.

While this SHOULD be in the beginners section, I don't see any real issue with threads like this.

To OP:

21/18 all the way!

My current build is:

21/18

7 PS
7 IF
3 WM
6 ATH

99 2 hand wpf
98 pole wpf

I can easily use any 2 hander or polearm with this build (wpf does next to nothing right now, so having a little less doesn't matter.) though my primary setup is a Pike and Langes Messer in 2H mode with either a medium armor setup (around heraldic mail level) or heavy armor (around Black Armor level). My alternative setup is a Long War Axe, Crossbow, and steel bolts with either of those armor setups.

How to use a build is really up to you. Personally I like to use circle-strafing footwork combined with jump attacks and holds. It took a while to learn how to do it properly (circle strafing incorrectly is a great way to get yourself one-shotted), but it's hella fun. Backpeddling is just... boring, and reach games aren't really my thing.

Practice different footwork styles, don't just copy what you see other people doing. If you do something that people have seen a thousand times before, they'll just anticipate you and the maneuver will likely fail. Therefore, try things out. Sometimes you'll die miserably, other times you can kill players with much more experience than you.

I like the 15/15 2h-shielder-polearm-Xbow-thrower-archer-cav hybrid.  You are totally ineffective, but you get to buy a lot of cool stuff.  And yeah, why isn't this is the beginner guide section?

I could actually see myself using this, and I haven't used the crossbow much so it might spice things up.

Normally I would prefer WM over IF but I might try it.
And it would be nice if someone could move this to the right section, thanks.

Going full WM when you don't want to spend points in multiple prof is usually a bad idea. I'm not a no-WM extremist, but if you got 24 agi, there's pretty much no difference between 5 and 8 WM, even with the heaviest armor you can use so I wouldn't go over 5, and that's only if you really want that speed. After that, IF is a much better investment.

Also, that is what I would do with a 92 speed weapon. If you plan on using faster ones, you can safely decrease WM even further.

If you are going hybrid, you need the WM, if you are going with only one style weapon, you don't.
I think that's what you are getting at.

Also, Duckzern; let us know what you choose to use. :]

9/30

3 ps
10 athletics
10 weapon master

121 two hand
168 xbow

As for gear use the bastard sword and a standard xbow

Very fast build and fun to play and I will be going with this next gen.

Currently I'm a 27/12 2 hand but I wanted something with a bit more variety.
