Title: Marketplace become useless
Post by: Tovi on July 06, 2012, 06:43:09 am
First I'd like to congrat for the great job done on this mod.
The marketplace is very well made, but is, mostly, useless :

For non heirloom item : you have 2 choices. You can sell them directly and loose 50% of the value. Or you can try to sell it on the market with, generally, a slight loss of 10% (and buy another one with a 10% discount).
Why not just loosing 10% automatically instead of loosing 1 week to wait a buyer ?

For heirloom item : you can wait months before trading a common item. Or never, if it's a rare item. Pretty long when you want to change your weapon style. Is it fun ? Nope.
Heirloom points are not overpowered. There is no real justification to wait that long to change your main weapon.

I suggest another system, more simple : to destroy your loomed weapon. That way you get back your loom point and loose your weapon (a kind of malus).
With this simplier system you could try to loom anything more risky, like daggers, shields, boots etc. for a time. And change your armor style more frequently.
Results :
- The game is still balanced
- More fun (major point).
- Marketplace become useless. Except if you want to sell your loom points.

I don't see them going for this unless you lost a loom point or could only destroy one weapon per month. Besides we have something like this, the blacksmith, where you get 2 loom points back for giving the blacksmith a mw item.

Marketplace is fun if you know how to work it, I never had a loomed item I couldn't trade in like 2 weeks tops.

PS: I also usually start trading my items before retirement if I know what class I'm going to change to.

Trading weps is easy if you know how... On average i trade 2-3 looms each week either to make profit or to switch gear.

If this gets through it will kill the complete economics of this mod so i dont see it happening anyway...

The fact that you can sell a normal item on the marketplace with a higher price has a reason, you wait longer for a higher profit. If you dont want to wait that long you will have to settle for less.

And about looms not being op... the extra damage and speed definitely can make a diifference in duels. Archers for exxample get double the damaage bonus (also on arrows) as well as extra ammo, which helps them a lot ;)

you must have loomed something really stupid if you cant find any trades, or you are one of those dickheads asking for other person to chip in 50k as well as their +3 item

That's not the problem. But actually i try to trade an Elite Scimitar+1 for a Langes Messer, a H throwing X, a broad X, or a loom point. In every case I GIVE money. Since 2 or 3 weeks.

I don't think that attribute my lonely loompoint to anything will change my gameplay. I'd have more fun selling it 400k and always playing heavy armor and horse at lvl32.
That's why I think loom market is just not fun. Only for hardcore gamers.

regaining loompoints by destroying a loomed item would result in marketplace becoming useless and obsolete.

The market for trading +1 items seems pretty limited. Probobly worse now that you can save up your loompoints and go right from +0 to +3.

So.... Just because you dont know how to trade well, no one should be allowed to and we should kill the market...
A lot of words come to my mind atm... But ill keep it at selfish for the moment so i wont be rude...

Make better deals for the other players (add gold).

I'm a trade, with lots of good deals (btw, visit my shop (http://forum.c-rpg.net/index.php/topic,28282.msg413209.html#msg413209) ), but after all I got bored of market, jew-skill not attractive to me anymore. But in this suggestion there are good rational seed, that can makes players become happy, even sucessful traders, when they just want to change their old +3s to new ones.
P.S. Yes, U can call me communist - it's great sometimes.
