You need a modeling program, texturing program etc. I dont know much about modeling but I know a bit about texturing, and gimp is perfectly useable imo.

But you should follow some guidelines. Find them on taleworlds forum.

http://forums.taleworlds.com/index.php/board,64.0.html You can find everything here. There are a lot of guides and a lot of videos. Everything on English though.

3D max is a very good program if you really want to make high quality models, maya will also help. Alot of pro that makes alot of high quality mnb models use those.

I used Wings 3D (http://www.wings3d.com/), it's free and easy to use.
First thing I did was to watch Highelf's (http://forums.taleworlds.com/index.php/topic,24463.0.html) video tutorials and try the stuff he did.
First real model I ever made was my Viking berserker bear-head helmet. And that's after only a couple of hours of playing around in the program.
Also, don't know how to use photoshop either. But I bet it would be badass to 'copy' the fur on the Kuyak and patch it onto the bear head, so it matches.
Last thing I did was this Ornamental Yataghan, requested by someone. Untextured as well and very much unfinished.
I'd really like to try my hands at texturing some day, plus actually getting them into a game/mod to see how they look. Also, body armours seem to be harder to make, with rigging or whatever.
