Title: Actual Assassin build?
Post by: BlackWhite on July 01, 2012, 05:42:21 am
Not really possible in this game with tincans but the idea of a actual assassin in this game has always given me a small chub. A VERY squishy, fast, camouflaged, high damaging character who goes behind the skirmish and "assassinates" archers/xbowers. Or ideally you find the best player on the opposing team and find him in a big melee focusing only on him (Miley comes to mind).
Couple ideas going through my head for a stf but any build/equipment suggestions?

But seriously, look up the ATS guys. Palatro and Gash come to mind. Very successful assassins. Every now and then I turn around and see them coming at me "how the fucks did they get so close without me seeing."
/lobby ban ats hax

tincans don't seem like they would be that big of a problem considering you have a lot of agi and the espada and dagger are pretty high pierce. I mean the long dagger as the same pierce as a german greatsword (luckily it can't block)

The closest crpg has to an "effective" assasin would be an arbalest wielding xbowman. So sniper/assasin more then walk up to you and stab you assasin.

I think I know the best assassin build. It's something like 18/18 cav lancer. As you ride on the horse, nobody will hear your steps behind but will hear innocent running horse instead. As enemies hear running horse, they will never suspect it to be a silent assassin (which you are, actually). So people will think it's just a horse or horseman riding behind them, and SUDDENLY you will stab them with your lance. Just like a cool assassin. PS: also if you have some appropriate armor color, you can pretend you're horse without horseman, and that gives you even more stealth effect.

You can roleplay an assassin with pretty much any build.
Just have a high number into athletics.

Get a 1h or a katana. Weapon weight decreases your effective athlethics fast, if you use a really light weapon you are super fast with 8 athlethics. Also, a 1h/2h of 1.2 weight slows you down more than a 1h of 1.2 weight, just like a 2h of 2 weight slows you down more than 1h/2h of 2 weight.
Go low on armour. Avoid the main zerg, get behind enemy lines and hunt those archers/xbowmen. Xbowmen mostly look around them while reloading though, so can't do a long approach on them.
If you want to assassinate key players you need to be in places where they do not yet expect you. So spawn fast, sheath weapon for supreme movement speed and then prepare an ambush.
I did shit like this all the time with my 15/24 ninja with steppe armor, feels so good when you get that sneaky kill, but apart from that very frustrating. Prepare to deal with horsies. I always liked to approach with my katana sheathed (looks badass) and then unsheath when really close to an unaware archer. See them turn around just before you chop is head in two.

This is my favorite assassin build:
Strength: 15 Agility: 21 Hit points: 60 Skills to attributes: 2 Ironflesh: 5 Power Strike: 5 Shield: 0 Athletics: 7 Riding: 0 Horse Archery: 0 Power Draw: 0 Power Throw: 5 Weapon Master: 7 One Handed: 100 Two Handed: 1 Polearm: 1 Archery: 1 Crossbow: 1 Throwing: 146
You can also go 15/24 if you really think you need the ath. On NA 7 ath and light armor is enough to stay out of range of anyone really.
I usually use the regular espada, which has 30 pierce. I also usually take 3 stacks of daggers. That gives you 24. It's great for slowing people down or interrupting them.
Sometimes I switch the daggers out with heavy axes and sometimes I carry an xbow and 1 stack of daggers. Kinda depends on how much cav is around.

12/24 (lvl 30 build) shielder with a buckler (8 shield skill suffices) and niuweidao/scottish sword/nor (any 1h that is fast and damaging), leoking style. Armor, light/medium one. Used this build for a gen, awesome for hunting archers, but low survivability, ie assassin style

I've seen a build like this on NACRPG1. The character's name was "Ghost" and in just two rounds I saw him get like 3 or 4 kills which I would call "assassinations". He was perfectly camo'd up, and of course he had an xbow and maybe an italian sword or arming sword. He would just run to some bushes, snipe unsuspecting cav (me), get chased, run into different bushes, hide behind walls, etc. and gank the first person to turn the corner. Kind of cool.

Turn speed nerf screws it up a bit now, but I went one gen as 15/24 in tribal armor with an awlpike. Not exactly a hollywood assassin, but it's a beautiful build for ambushing. Packs a punch hard enough to one shot many ranged players if you go for headshots, is quite fast, and can still hold its own against tin cans. Just watch out for friendly fire and cav bumps. 12/27 or 15/27 could also work well.

arbalest wielding xbowman
Or, you can be a high agility, light xbow user. Get max xbow proficiency, run up close to the melee, and (using first person), go for headshots.

Strength:18 Agility:21
One Handed:130
Weapon Master:3
Athletics:7
Iron Flesh:1
Shield:6
Power Strike:6
With Black hood with mask, light leather, khergit leather boots, and leather gloves. You look like an assassin.
And I use these weps Espada Eslavona and Buckler.
Works wonders for me against tin cans and lighlty armored guys.

i loved one build i went one time its a shielder 12/24 4if 4ps 8shield 8ath 5wm its awsome if you use a steel pick and you are very compact and you can bet on youre shield never breaking if you ahve it loomed but yeah its fun and it works very well to both search out a target and assasinate him and to get out of tight spots
