Title: Archer/Shielder HELP

    Im interested in making an Archer/Shielder for some fun and i was wondering which build would be better.  I will have light armor and my equip would be Elite cav shield, iberian mace, horn bow and barbed arrows. I like the 18/18 build, but i feel like i wont have enough wpf into archery for the pd 6. The 15/21 will give me more weapon master and athletics and less killing power, but seems to be the most stable.  Soooo which build seems the most solid, or am i just completely wasting my time.

With 6 PD and without looms, you're looking at between 3 and 12 barbed arrows (5 if you hit for average damage every time) to kill a 50 armor target with 70 HP (21/18 7 IF), assuming a point blank shot with no speed bonus (and no headshot, obviously).

If you really want to do that, go 18/18 with 150 bow WPF and 60 1h WPF (or 21/15 with 140/60). You would probably be better off hybridizing with a crossbow or throwing build, however.

Also you can try hornbow\arrows\0 slot shield\shortened spear or quarter staff build. This will give you more variety for non archer friendly maps (also you can put IF points to riding and even use 2-3 points for horse archery)

I have been toying with this class ever since using a Khergit horse archer in Native on siege mode and your 18/18 build is exactly what I use.  Although I use loomed tatar or normal bodkin arrows (often the most common arrow ammo so you can loot the battlefield) depending on the situation.  I understand you want more ammo since you only have room for 1 quiver of arrows but if you want kills you need bodkins.  You are a support class so don't get hung up on kills.

Realistically your role is more of a skirmisher than long ranged combat.  You should be close behind and slightly to one flank of your infantry hitting the oncoming infantry and their skirmishers while working with pikers to take out cavalry.  That's for battle but this build really shines in siege mode.  It's perfect for shifting between holding walls and turtling on the flag.  Be sure to pull your shield out early.  I can't tell you how many times I thought I could get one last shot off and instead die.

Don't reduce your 1 hand WPF below 100 and use a fast weapon.  Your archery WPF is low so that's why you should be focusing on short-medium ranged shots and support your infantry with your shield.

Dillinger, in case you dont know, hibrid archery builds are worsthless. You may try using one, but you'll soon realise that you're at the very bottom of the food chain.

Hybrid archer builds aren't worthless, but hybrid archer+sword and board is. You will end up with a build that is both bad at archery and sword and board.
