Title: So whats up with one-handed overhead turning cone?
Post by: Tot. on June 28, 2012, 07:47:25 pm
Will it be fixed to something reasonable anytime soon? One-handers have 2 attacks available ATM vs. competent two-handed player, left swing and the slow right swing.

The real problem is that it made overheads an even riskier move to perform without any real benefit. Overheads were already slow attacks. They are slowed down even more since you have to adjust more before you swing.

It's not that overheads are currently "bad", it's that left and right swings are dramatically better.

its very acceptable limitation to get rid of halberd helicopter, maul twister foot drop and other bullshit shenanigans.  You just need to line up your target better.  No different than using a kick

The spinning helped other classes against 1h. Before, opponents could run away with their back turned to avoid an attack whilst readying a 180 degree spin attack.

I'm slowly getting used to it, although my opinion about overhead chambers remains the same.

I think 1h overhead is pretty dang fast (compared to right swing) and it comes through more than it fails unlike right swing in a lot of situations.

One-handed overhead is completely useless, anyone with a brain and bit of athletics can easily dodge it. Fact that some of you play agaist shitty or clueless people doesn't change the facts about current mechanics.

Blabla

GTX, seriously.

It's pretty bad once it releases, I agree, but I think it's fast enough where if you can follow them ahead of time and it can still hit. If someone is trying to circle you, maybe an overhead during that time is not favorable, compared to an opponent trying to backpedal you.

Missing is most noticeable in the duel server, but thankfully there aren't as many issues with opponents dodging in battle. Feinting into overhead and overhead holds aren't really much different, too.

In duels, it's pretty bad since the opponent will be actively dodging you. It's also difficult to hit an opponent if you chamber a stab/overhead with your own overhead. However, the side swings were indirectly buffed, and you don't need to worry about opponent stabs/overheads anymore. I think right swing being too slow is more of a problem, since I still get tons of kills with my overheads.

After this nerf, I have also seen many more times my overhead drag and still hit someone. Kind of unsettling since I hate when that happens to me.

I think because its slower now, it's "active" within that cone that is hits for longer. When it was faster, only the very end of the overhead attack animation would "drag" into people. Now, the whole cone of attack still counts. Which is a very slight compensation for overheads in that it's another trick to use with it.

The above is badly worded. Oh well.

At fifteen, I had the will to  learn ; at thirty, I could stand ; at forty, I had no  doubts ; at fifty, I understood the heavenly Bidding ;  at sixty, my ears were opened ; at seventy, I could  do as my heart lusted without trespassing from the  square.

We all got it, so plz dont act like that. I constantly use sideswing where i go around them, if the polearm/2h begin doing an upper. I havent rly done it against 1h, because it is so fast, that i dont rly dare trying it. But i know it works vs 2h/polearm.

So... Tot, seriously.
