Polls should have a reason attached to them, which can be directly added when the poll is submitted, so that it comes up as red text.
So it would look like this.
Poll to kick player so_and_so: 1=accept 2=decline
Reason: Leeching
-
+1 Would be quite nice to have.
-
Hmmmm.
I would make a list of preset reasons.
Like "TK", "leech" and so on.
Otherwise that might be abused for troll vote reasons.
-
Yes, that is a good modification to the idea.
-
So, there would no longer be any random polls. When a troll decides to poll someone for lulz, he randomly picks a reason - Poll to ban some_player, reason - leeching.
How is that an improvement over the current system, where you have to state your reason in chat (or get punished for random polling)?

When dead people vote, living players can see the reason too.
Noone said it will end troll votes. My post was about so people don't enter a reason like "is gay" or whatever.
-
If they state the reason as "is gay", it only makes the admins work easier. Also, you are not meant to submit polls when dead.

hm true, if an admin is there.

Why not?
Typical situation for polls would be when someone intentionally tked you, you are pretty dead then.

This suggestion wasn't really to end troll polling. It was just to improve polling in general so that the justification for the poll is connected directly to the vote, and is in red so that it stands out. I find that many polls are followed by a bunch of people asking "reason?". Creating the list of reasons would definitely prevent people from writing ridiculous things.

+1 nice idea
-
Would this even be possible?
-
I'd support it so long as there is a "being a dick" option. It would make mods jobs easier and free up some space on packed servers.
-
Also if it is possible to hold polls till the beginning of the next round/end of current round that would be fantastic, I can't count the number of times I have been distracted by stupid red boxes appearing at the bottom of my screen, not to mention my virus scanner telling me it's updated itself. =/
But yes, I like this idea, it would make things much easier to make an informed decision about, not just going by how much I think that the person polling/being polled is trustworthy to make a good choice.
