The Falchion is a very unique weapon. It is a sword, but it is also very heavy and thicker at the top. Historically it was like an axe, but with a swords blade. That is why I think it should get the bonus against shields. This would not only be historically correct, but would also make it a unique weapon in the 1h class. Currently all the shieldbreakers are axes.
The Falchion is completely useless right now. These are its current stats.
weapon length: 80
weight: 1.2
difficulty: 4
speed rating: 96
weapon length: 80
thrust damage: 0 pierce
swing damage: 30 cut
Price: 654
96 speed rating, 30 cut and 80 length, yay! No wonder no one uses it.
My proposed stats, it should be a top/subtop tier weapon.

Ofcourse my main goal with this thread is getting the Falchion changed to what it should be, historically correct and unique. These stats are just a quick thought and I'll leave it to devs to balance it properly. So please don't make the stats the main discussion point.

But then , Niuweidao, Soldier's Cleaver and Military Cleaver are sort of Falchion so should they get buffed too ?

Falchion has crappy model. If you want to use Falchion, use Italian Falchion. Short weapon but hits like a truck.

Niuwendao is not nearly the same as the Falchion; Cleavers, hard to say.

I'd rather see a 1h morningstar (pierce but with bonus vs shield) than give a sword shieldbreaking. Falchions should be short, fast, and hit hard. Italian Falchion accomplishes these. Plain old falchion is a Failchion-i.e. peasant weapon, let it be.

A blade is not a good wedge, like an axe head, therefore no bonus to shield.

What of the Italian Falchion, it has 34 cut base and a length of 70 [tbh, it's extremely good loomed]

I use falcion as my secondary weapon, I think it's fine, we need a cheap mid-quality one slot weapon.

An axe is not a wedge, it is just a cutting edge with a lot of weight behind it, like the falchion. You have splitting axes that are wedge shaped, but all the axes in the game are pretty much cutting axes.

-1, i played half a gen using nothing but the falchion and peasant gear and i always had 1:1 / positive KDR.
it's 30 damage at 80 range, and it's heavy, therefore it doesn't bounce.
not to mention it has like a 0 gold cost.
it's actually an amazing weapon.

1.2 weight is not heavy at all, and weight has nothing to do with bouncing.
Compare it with the Nomad Sabre for example, also a very cheap weapon. It has 6 speed(!) and 7 length more for only 1 cut less. If you used the Falchion because of its stats, then it says more about you than about the weapon.

Falchions are supposed to do damage to shields, so i +1 this suggestion. Might bring more diversity to 1h weapon choices.

Also make some of the 1h axes and maces unbalanced (together with a damage buff).
