Word on the street is its being announced very soon maybe by early July.
Keep up to date on google news or w/e with it.
I'm super excited since Rome total war was one of the first computer games I ever played.
And it's still a bauce game to this day.
But anyways there was some page in a pc magazine of a Rome total war 1 battle scene with a 2 roman numeral.
Just look it up, it's worth the time

I feel bad for the Europa Barbarorum guys who have been working on their MTW2 version since forevah.
-
Not like modern TW games give modders the ability of total conversions..
I hope they'll change it, but they became DLC whores too.
-
EB II will be better than any RTW2 CA can make.

woulda been happy with RTW2, MTW3 or something new like renassaince, but pre-gunpowder, so win. So tired of weaboo/gunpowder stuff.

How can you have renaissance warfare without gunpowder?
edit: it was almost defined with the introduction of gunpowder to the battlefield aside from seiges
-
Phew, maybe this will save the franchise from going to shit like it has been going. I really hope they won't dumb the experience down any further, I would prefer more depth.

shoulda specificied pre-rifle. I dont mind crappy muskets mixed into melee formations, which was the norm through the renaissance.

This is actually why I probably won't buy this until years later when the package version with all the DLC is on sale for 50% off. Even the old TW games had incredibly shitty modding capabilities, but the modders could still make do. But now with DLC whoring and actively anti-mod policies, I don't see the point of buying any time soon after release.

Medieval 2 is the best TW anyway.
-
I prefer Medieval 2's graphics to Shogun 2's graphics as well...
-
If you play shogun you have to adjust your yellow colour setting. :)
-
The good parts of STW2:
-AI is better. Better on battlefield, and smarter on campaign. Defends cities better, acts more aggressively. Legendary difficulty is really mean!
-Better diplomacy. AI is a lot more reasonable.
-Less agents. Playing MTW2 again recently I was really annoyed by how many agents I need to move. By STW2 they cut out princesses, merchants and diplomats as agents leaving just spies, priests and assassins.
-I also like the new building style where cities have slots so specialization is more straightforward.
So there have been some significant improvements in the engine since STW2 so it will be great to go back to Rome.
I hope Roman politics will be a bit deeper if you choose to play it, it was kind of weak in RTW where you just chose 1 of 3 factions that you ran like a kingdom and then the senate acted like a pope. The senate should be A LOT more significant. If you don't want to deal with that then just go play some non-Roman nation, but Republican Rome should be special and different.

I don't like CA's attitude when they release unfinished games, especially multiplayer suffered really horribly from this. I'm not going to buy any TW game for full price because of that.
-
Which games did they release unfinished?
I remember swearing a holy oath to never buy another CA game back when they released ETW because of some stupid DLC shit though, can't remember why now though
But it's a good reason to pirate the games and feel morally superior
-
CA are having a a modding conference, they made a thread over on TWC.
-
Well... there is only one Image that fit this announcment

shogun 2 had totally horrible multiplayer after release, both campaign and battles. as far as i know even other releases before were one big desync party.
btw i haven't pirated a game for 5 years at least...
-
Shogun 2 had some problems, but NTW and ETW had good multiplayers. Lacking in most functions that other MP games have (such as checking ping), but still good.

- i heard it was impossible to finish any campaign without desyncs for months (etw, ntw)...
- regarding battles only, shogun2 was just awfull (features, stability, drophacks, balance, ladder was and still is just one big LOL...), i can't imagine any other system they had before for battles was better. if they had any "system" at all...
i might possibly buy rtw2, but only as some cheap sale after they patch the game.
-
ETW doesn't have a multiplayer campaign, despite what they promised before it was released. Shogun 2 was impossible to finish MP campaigns on. Desync at turn 70, every time.
-
ETWs MP campaign is still buggy as hell and both NTW and STW2 had sever de-synchronisation problems at release. Transferring the savegame manually solved most of those problems though. I have played and completed dozens of MP campaigns, even in ETW.
-
Every TW game since M2 have had more or less gamebreaking bugs (like pike/spearmen switching to close combat weapons, blue screens, loading problems, countless mechanical issues and so on), for me the vanilla games are usually 'unplayable' the first six months. Still I love the series, favourite being NTW so far (clean good functional working mechanics).
A buy, Hell Yes.
After six months or so.

good guys in skidrow, or razor will crack that shit :)
charging 60 euros for ANY game is way too much, its a bigger rip off then buying bottled water.

Pray tell, how have you arrived at this conclusion?
-
Game companies make ridiculously more money then they actually need, yet still they dont lower their prices. And have you forgetten dlc whoring?
Activison has even manage to sell map pack dlc as a standalone game for 60 dollars ! how stupid you have to be to buy that.

Game companies... not charities. They want to make a profit, not just cover the bare cost of the game. There is no such thing as "making too much money."
-
they are just greedy scumbags, they have a right to be that way, but still isnt nice

most of the moneyz go to producers and not game companies.
