Title: Loom Respec
Post by: oprah_winfrey on June 22, 2012, 05:40:43 pm
Since the game mechanics have changed so much, a lot of weapons have lost a lot of their value. Can we have a loom respec so that people people can not be stuck with weapons that no longer work as intended when originally loomed?

I am aware that we have the marketplace, but a lot of the weapons are not going to be easy to trade away so thats not going to be fun, since its not really their fault that their looms arent as good now. Also, have the respec be the looms you have, not the gen you are, since that would be pretty unfair at this point with people buying lots of looms/rewarding people who sold theirs.

I believe there will never be any loom respec.

That's why there's the marketplace and the auctions where you can transform any MW item in 2 Heirloom Points.

After all patch, it's basically the same, weapons get slightly change, but never to being unplayable. You're never "stuck with weapons that no longer work as intended", you can just use regular ones.

No loom respec, you have marketplace.

No loom respec, you have marketplace.

Yes, in general I agree with this, but if you take a look at the market, the demand for things that were nerfed with this patch is almost non existant. Its one thing if you loom a shitty weapon and regret it latter, its another thing if you have a +3 item that was good, but has been changed and is no longer something you want, but you can't get rid of it. THat doesn't seem fair to me.

Personally, I don't think I would change anything that I have loomed right now so this doesn't concern me very much.

Then why are you making this thread ?

Then why are you making this thread ?

Because I am sure there are people who got fucked from their weapons being changed?

I say there are plenty of good reason for loom respecs and not a single good one against.

But as I will be talking to a wall I will spare you all with an entire argumentation. Just ask yourself if it's fair that your character you developed gets changed by someone else and you are stuck with it? (And yes, you ARE stuck with it.)

No loom respec, you have marketplace.

yes true, but those 3 mw looms that i sold for 400k a piece in the beginning of the marketplace, are now worth 3-4 times more,

but theres nothing i can do about it, its my own fault i guess

Changes can be made at any time and there is no reason for a loom respec. You loomed the item, you keep it. You know that there can always be a change for the item, slightly or heavy. That is in the end your own problem. :P

Also a reason against it; if you get all the looms back (+1 item = 1 loompoint, ua.) people will have more money in the end. Examples are shitty items, e.g. scimitar +1, LEE +1, theyre sold for less than 500k on the marketplace. A loompoint is worth more currently.

Yes, in general I agree with this, but if you take a look at the market, the demand for things that were nerfed with this patch is almost non existant unless you add decent amount of gold on top.

Fixed that for you.

1. Play with shit equipment
2. Earn moneys
3. Put up your shit for something good and add gold on top
4. ???????
5. Profit.

yes true, but those 3 mw looms that i sold for 400k a piece in the beginning of the marketplace, are now worth 3-4 times more,

but theres nothing i can do about it, its my own fault i guess

I know couple guys who bought numerous MW items for 75-100k back when marketplace started so yeah thats your fault.

Then let them start such a thread themselves. It's kinda strange to suggest something that you don't follow.

Anyway, there are bad reasons against loom respec, it would break economy. And all thoses people buying for 250k shitty loomed items would benefit from it.

This is a beta, you know there's bound to be changes, and so far, not one item is utterbullshit. There wasn't any BIG NERF OMG USELESS weapon.

Yeah, the glaive was nerfed so much...160 length 42 cut 91 speed, I couldn't imagine anyoe having any use for that without polestagger. On the other hand the people with pikes or war spears kinda got the shaft (pun intended) with the recent changes. Even something like the ggs is probably a lot worse then a sow or dgs now. Punishing players for something that isn't their fault is kinda weird IMO. Which is why I disagree with your statement kikimoure that all they have to do is play in rags to grind gold or just pay a lot to trade their weapons.

I cant see how fixing broken mechanic is "Punishing players for something that isn't their fault".
Asking any compensation for that is even more ridiculous.

Yeah, everyone should have known that polestagger and pokes were going to get nerfed your right

I've got a total of +4 for polearms. And i don't care. I'll still use both.
Polestagger had to be removed. And i'm glad it's gone. If indeed they were heavily nerfed, then do not worry, a future patch would make them playable again. That's how it is.
No need for loom respect, except for breaking the market.

Because I am sure there are people who got fucked from their weapons being changed?

One person that comes to mind is Druzhina_Bars.

I remember him with his +3 Long Voulge, by no mean a great weapon but it was still one of the longest polearm with sideswing making it a pretty good support weapon despite absolutely mind-numbing slow speed and only average damage until the Devs with their great genius decided to nerf it on cRPG because it was "OP" in Strategus or something making it 2 directional.

Bars complained about it, what did the Devs tell him? "Use the marketplace" Lol yeah, because a +3 Long Voulge that has been nerfed into uselessness is going to go for alot on the marketplace.

I remember once there was a loom respec....long ago before the marketplace.

I loomed a +1 poleaxe.

I wonder where that thing is now...probably grew up to be a MW without me...
