Hey all, this is for the best cavalry player with a 1 hander, rather than the ubiquitous lance. These are the ones that really just go out and rape with a 1 hand weapon.
I've got a couple that I think are great : Josko, Geon, and Kryser.
-
Hospitaller_Utraque, Hospitaller_TommyByFire, Heroin_ATS, TommyHu are a few good ones.
-
Sword plus horse does not equal cavalry

I'm just trying to say more of these threads are pointless.

Ok duster are you retarded, what do you call the french cuirassier, the hussar, or basically all cavalry from the medieval period. People stereotypically think all cav fought with a lance, it was mostly swords and horses hacking and slashing lance was rarely used due to fragility and lack of versatility.
-
also a lance can be stuck in someone when you charge somebody, and a sword can't. so a sword would much more usefull then a lance when your on horseback. and ofcourse a sword was a hell of a possesion so every knight had one anyway. and a lance can't really be used on foot.

He's joking obviously

Well, the reason I posted this is because it really DOES take an above average amount of skill to do well with a 1 hander from horseback. Lance, some skill, but c'mon, EVERYONE uses a heavy lance these days ('cept me and a select few light lance users), but a 1 handed cavalryman that can consistently have a positive k:d without resorting to a lance or other polearm really does deserve some recognition. :D

Only reason sword cavalry is a bit harder is because of long polearms and pikes
I find using a lance to hit is far harder than using a sword to hit.

Some people are good some days , some other days , they really suck. You can't just say who X player is the best 2h or cav or xbower .. it depends a lot of who's playing. Some people without a good team they suck , others clutch .. there are just so many variables to what we can consider "best" that it's pointless to nominate good players. Specially nominating Kryser :P
-
I always liked to try and pick people without bumping them. Makes me smile. :)
-
Bump slash ftw!
-
The best overall cav I've seen is goat. I don't know if he plays 1 handed but I remember him just destroying people.

Yay, so satisfying to do the uber-leet chamberblock of a lancer thrust, and slashing his head in two with the subsequent attack 8-)
Despite common assumptions, 1h weapons can be very good in cav duels. They hit way harder with slower speeds. And the overhead has a very long range.
-
imo lancing is harder. a much smaller hitbox is given. if that makes any sense im sleepy
reguardless thrusting weapons are harder to aim and time in every situation than slashing ones
now if you find me a cav that uses a 1h and finds a way to beat a lancer consistently then that is quite deserving. however alot of 1h cav kills are bump-slashes :(
-
Bumpslashes are embarrassing if you do them.
At least, you SHOULD be embarrassed about getting a kill that way.
-
I'm obviously the best 1h cav in NA, your pikes don't scare me fools.

Actually doing the maneuvrability-whore-show with a ferrari horse is worse. Bump-slashing usually involves more delicate control, anticipation and has more risks.

Dexx is just scared of my cleaver

If you have good days and days you suck, then you're bad.
Being skilled is about being good and being consistent. Sure, everyone has one or two off days, but good players are consistent 99% of the time.

good troll... but the truth is not everyone cares to take it so serious that they must be on top of their game 24/7 in order to have fun playing with friends

I like how you make it out to be two choices:
Either be good and be consistent while having no fun and not playing with friends
Or
Be bad, inconsistent yet have fun and play with friends.
I think it's possible to be good, consistent, have fun, and play with friends.
So many carebears on this forum.

NO U

Be an over-achieving dick 24/7
or
Relax and play, winning some losing some but all in good fun
Kids like that in school piss me off, they never relax and socialize which is a big part of life, just puttin that out there lol
on topic, 1h horse cav is over-rated. Im the best, 'nuff said

Agreeing with Rhade leaves a terrible taste in my mouth, but I'm going to have to do it here.
You see, winning generates fun for some, and if you're doing it with people whose company you enjoy it's a guaranteed good time.

Nice generalizations bro.
Have fun in high school.
I hope they don't give you too many wedgies this week.
-
Yeah, you have to be consistent to be the best.
So like, if you lose to Allers sometimes in duels repeatedly, then you are not better than him.
-
Leave Rhade alone. I'm sure if he got on a horse with a 1 hander he'd be unstoppable. He's the best, he told us all so just today. And yesterday, and the all the week before. Consistently, in fact.
-

Good thing he lost to me repeatedly then, eh?
-
Rhade's power is he can turn any thread into a thread about him
-
So Rhade, looking at your forum posts, you have managed to consistently turn every thread you have posted on, into being about you lol! so does that mean you are a consistent attention whore?
-

A power he shares with Balton.
Anyhoo, I'd recommend Hospitaller_Spaniard for that list. Not sure if he still does it, but I always remember him as being excellent at slashing with a one-hand without bumping.

You should look more closely -- people like provoking me here because they either can't beat me in-game, or have some sort of sick obsession with me. I'm really not sure what it is, but I'll keep you posted.
Yet somehow I'm the one turning every thread about me, when all people do is take shots at me and then get surprised when the thread is about me as I defend myself or my position, as I'm doing here once again.
Yes, I'm the one making this thread about me and making it personal, you're right. Oh, wait a second:
Yeah, you have to be consistent to be the best.

All my replies were on topic and relevant until this, and a simliar post from Ecko in the other thread.
If I don't respond, I allow bullshit to stand.
If I do, omg i got h4xtrolled.
If you're going to say shit, make sure it's right. I'm not an attention whore, I just hate stupid people and people who have a desire to "troll"/lash out with words because it's all they have.

Duel server bros??? I am best cav, no need for more replies!

You're just asking for attention.

Clearly weren't relevant here and the other post.

See above.
Don't get offended Rhade but these are just facts just from this thread.

i thought you are better on foot. :D I am curious to know what are people's KD ratio.

The first quote was me responding to someone else saying that "good" players play badly sometimes, I was just disagreeing, that's the point of a message board. I was giving my opinion that a good player needs to be consistent, or he's not good -- sure, sometimes people will be a bit off but you can't say "I went 20-10 one map and usually stay around 5-7 other maps, I'm really good", in my opinion, and that's a totally valid, fair, reasonable point I was making, not "looking for attention." It was entirely on topic in regards to a thread looking to find who the best 1h cav is, so I think me offering an opinion on skill evaluations in this context is entirely appropriate and called for. I can't quite decipher the rest of your point you were trying to convey other than the fact that you just seem to be trying really hard. Too hard imo, and it seems like you're the one looking for attention trying to call me out and somehow "get" me but in reality you just seem to be making yourself look silly.
Haters gonna hate, etc etc
-

738-117
-
imo there should be more threads about me
I am using a 2h cav this gen so I nominate myself as da best
-
I'm still debating what to do with my cav next generation.
Either I'll go hoplite/cavalry person.
ps 6
sh 5
ath 6
riding 6
WM 6 (all polearm)
Or I'll do a 1h + shield/ polearm cavalry hybrid thing. With like 120 WPF in 1h, and 90 or so in polearms.
WHAT DO?
-
I want to do a cav build based around sword cav, I need some help:
I want to use a longsword and carry a shield for when I'm on my horse (or put in on my back, I dont care) and I'll obviously be able to fight on foot with the sword.
Im concerned that trying to put enough points into riding, 1h and 2h would stretch me thin.
Possible? Y/N
-
Yes

It's possible, I remember Mountinlord_Lans did something similar, but I don't think he put anything in 1h.
If you're planning on fighting while using the shield on foot then I would recommend placing at least some points in 1h(but you may not need to to still be effective), but if you're going to use the sword + shield on horseback to slash people I think it would be best to not place any points in 1h.
-
I am the best.
-
Yeah, don't put any points into 1h.
-
As mentioned three times already, don't put points in one-hand. Your horse will provide the speed boost and knowing you you're going to put away your shield anyway when on the ground. You might even be comfortable just having your shield on your back on horseback until you're getting shot at, pretty sure I've seen Joseph of Acre (or something) play like that effectively.
-
I guess thats fine, but if you get de-horsed or want to play some siege you are fucked.
-
but most cav people don't really care about that otherwise they wouldn't be cav. and they can always have an alt for siege.
-
I guess thats fine, but if you get de-horsed or want to play some siege you are fucked.
I think I'll be just fine on foot.
-
Personally, I wouldn't bother with 1H proficiency, since swinging a longsword from horseback without a shield in your hand uses 2H proficiency. I don't actually hold my shield up that often on horseback, either. The passive defense from a shield against missiles hitting you in the back is really nice as well. With some decent armor, arrows and bolts will glance off your back when you're riding away pretty frequently. (That large damage reduction from the shield plus the large negative movement modifier is enough to nullify a lot of the rangers out there)
Of course, you can always pull the shield off your back if there's lots of archers aiming at you, and 1 proficiency swings are still viable, especially when attacking someone who's unaware of you. Anyway, that's what I would do if I wanted to use a bastard weapon.
-
Having low proficiency in the weapon you are using on horse can even be an advantage, because you swing lasts longer so you are less likely to miss by wrong timing.
-
Thanks for the advice, guys, appreciated.
