Crossbows can be used quite well without any wpf. But I think people who spend their valuable wpf points in crossbows should receive more benefits besides just a small increase in accuracy.
Bows and throwing weapons reveive +1.5% damage per 10 wpf points, +accuracy, and a boost to reload speed i think?
I think crossbows should recieve a significantly small increase to damage and reload speed as well.
They should get +1% damage increase per 30 wpf points and +1% reload speed increase per 40 wpf. (Not much increase)
If this new buff seems to be too much additional damage, maybe the base damage of the crossbows should be slightly decreased to balance it up more.
All i ask for is at least a small benefit for spending major wpf points in crossbows. Because it seems to me now that crossbow wpf is useless. That's why most people dont go pure crossbowmen nor put large wpf points into it.
Devs please take some sort of this small change into account for future patches. There are many balancing suggestions out there and i believe this is one we absolutely need.
Thank You

Wait, there's a pure Xbow build?

Wpf already gives reload, and it lowers the reticule size somewhat.
That said, in the last 2-3 days the bolts seem to have a lot more "spread" around the reticule on EU1.

oh it actually does increase reload speed? Didnt say so in the game mechanics thread. I guess thats a bit better.

It does. Try reloading a crossbow with an infantry character and then do it with your crossbowman. There's a noticeable difference.

Nerf xbows.
Add new skill 'DeadEyeDick' to function as PD.
Flame On!

not to mention xbows don't have any skill requirement to use

I've got 181 wpf in Xbox and I will say it helps. Once it got ~170 I was able to plink people from across the map fairly regularly. But hey, xbows and dedicated xbowers could use a little buff anyway..

Dude it's fine.
Here is the dedicated build for you.
The 'William Tell'
12str
30agi
6ath
10mw
all the wpfssss!! ALL OF THEM DRINK THEM ALL UP!
Use a Heavy Cross bow not an arb. Now sir, hunt, hunt like you mean it. The fast as balls version of this has 10str uses the xbow and has 10ath, it's bassically CS for c-rpg and is truly hateful.
Now if you get yourself a +3 Heavy Xbow and +3 steel bolts you will find this combo gut bustingly powerful.
Noa stop yo whinning fool and get back in the game!

WPF gives:
+ reload speed
+ precision
Edit: fixed.

ok then. i was basing my suggestion off the game mechanics thread, which says xbows only gain accuracy with wpf.
Obviously it has been changed lately or written wrong.

Seems that I was wrong about added damage. I think that one of the better xbowmen on EU1 once I told me that wpf adds damage. However DaveURK says this:
2. WPF improves only reload speed and the size of the crosshair.
It would be awesome if Paul could stop by and confirm this quote.
You should read Dave's guide, you won't find any better guide for xbowmen.
-
I thought they removed the reload faster time a while back.
-
Wpf does not add damage. There was speculation that, since damage is random, it makes you make "higher damage" shots more often, but it is speculation and I have not seen any empirical evidence for it.
Reload and reticule size (and spread), yes.

WPF gives:
+ damage
+ reload speed
+ precision
What more do you want?
xbow wpf never add dmg to xbow.
for today you can use arbalest allmost with same effectiveness with 150 xbow wpf as with 170-180 wpf

It improves animation speed and accuracy.
