Title: Need a modeller. Armour request.
Post by: BlindGuy on June 17, 2012, 03:39:01 pm: There is an armour piece I have never seen but ALWAYS wanted, the simple Mail (or Maille) shirt. Stats could be unimpressive, maybe weight 6.5, body armour 30, no leg armour. I know its very easy for me to ask for new armour with no model but I have tried modelling it and everything I make looks...well, shit. Maybe to get this I will have to keep learning and make it myself afterall, but please if you have any experience and skill in this field read on.

We have mail hauberk, and byrnie, but both of these leave things to be desired, tbh, visually, for me. Try to imagine the byrnie, with the cloak and skirt removed:

So, just the mailshirt, the cloth sleeves and belt. The upper leg armour could look like it does on this item:

and I believe it would be a very nice armour, just a light maille shirt, it was popular IRL for hundreds of years, it really could be a nice thing for the mod.

Any help is apreciated, any constructive criticism is apreciated.

If only...the haubergeon is not a mail shirt, it is an ugly POS with kneepads that dont fit properly ingame with anything, and a silly neckscarf. It is also much heavier. We have loads of versions of russian llamelar, plate armour in different weights and protections, is it so bad I want a light maille shirt, with no attachments? I also dont want to have to wear a long maille shirt, such as the hauberk. Or a skirt, such as byrnie.

If it was lighter, I would use:

And I like this armour alot, but it seems every culture can get lots of representation, I just kinda want a light maille shirt, is it so bad?

Not ideal pic but, you get the idea.

Anyway, no more Maille Bras and bikinis, thats a silly idea, the poor girls nipples would be able to cut glass in that.

EDIT: Also seems they stood infront of a fan, musta been some STIFF nipples in there.
