Really good strategy game - and you can get all the add ons for less than a tenner on steam right now.

Get children. I tend to marry ladies with the genius trait for my superhuman breeding project.

If you're having trouble with losing wars etc., I'd advise you to start with Scotland: it has a young unmarried king and is relatively safe due to the chaos in England in 1066. But my favourite by far is the Norman Duchy of Apulia. If you haven't tried a game with Apulia yet, I recommend you to try one, just for the experience of it. You get rich lands in italy, but fighting the muslims in the south and the HRE in the north can be a pain.

Play as a count or a duke in the holy roman empire, gives you time to learn everything. before you have to start to worry about wars.

Lol, best noob place is Ireland as Dublin, you'll inherit your fathers land, fabricate claims and quickly be a double duke. And no one to really worry about either!

Good game, but i constantly lose my land due to claims and such, which was really annoying. Might have to check out this Sword of Islam though...

CK1 was boring, it's only about raising a family.

If you liked Ck2 i strongly suggest taking victoria 2 also, i prefer it,  it focuses on population management, revolutions, technology and colonization in the victorian era and beyond (timeframe is 1836/1936).

Much more fun in multiplayer since nations are more stable and overal the game is less luck-dependant

Game of thrones mod for CKII, made a thread in the other games forum about it.

I gave it a good go, but its not fun at all. i'm sure eventually there would be some actual fun but its just way too unituitive.
