Crossbow, lots of wpf, aim for head.  Take out important targets.

Best assassin.

This. And not the xbow, use the arbalest.

I don't know how fast or hard-hitting you would want to be, but arbalest/heavy crossbow, steel bolts, and a fast 1H with good thrust fits the assassin idea pretty well.

Heavy Crossbow / Steel Bolts / Broad Short Sword or Espada Eslavona (or Dagger/Long Dagger if you feel pro).

You only need 12 strength to use all of that. Wear very light armor and use your large pool of attribute/skill points to get high agility, athletics, and weapon master. Don't skip the 4 points on power strike though.

With this build, you can circle around the map, taking longer paths that usually don't get used. Get behind the enemy team and start taking down people from behind. Try not to get surrounded by a mob. remember, you can outrun almost anyone else, so if you are outnumbered back off and find somewhere safe to reload your crossbow. If you can get right behind an enemy don't waste your bolt, a few quick sword thrusts will kill them.

Don't bother with shurikens or smoke bombs. They will only alert enemies that you are there.

edit: this tactic will also net you a bunch of tasty AFK kills when you reach the enemy spawn before anyone else on your team.

I'd like to add to the above ideas with a tactic:

If you come up behind an unaware enemy, attack like this:

1: Hold your thrust attack for about 0.6 seconds for maximum damage on release, stab them preferably into the back of their head
2: Immediately after the stab lands, kick the enemy so they get staggered which leads to...
3: Stab them again or overhead strike their head while they are briefly immobile and defenseless from the kick

This combo should kill any archer and most crossbowmen (those tend to be more armored), depends on your build too of course.

Throwing with high PT can make throwing daggers or shurikens hurt pretty bad, but in my mind an assassin's job is to sneak behind enemies and deliver a single crippling bow.

Even with 10 Power Throw, you will have a hard time killing people in one hit. As soon as a group of archers hear the sound of projectiles coming at them from behind, they will turn around and then you're screwed.

Well done not reading ANY of the posts in reply to your query....

why? heavy crossbow requires 12 str if I maximize my agi then I can have 30 if not 27 point 1 clear

And noone told me an armor and thats what the 2nd point was about

Btw. Who called BlindGuy?

Interesting thread

And I like when people mentioned assassins, they didn't go all assassin's creed.

I might do something like this next gen.

Well it's not specially assassins creed I just didn't want to say Ninja because I don't want to use the Katana and when I say assassin then it should also be clear what I mean :):

Go throwing and melee hybird build.  Throw shurikans and knives at people's faces. Use a katana as your primary weapon for close range combat. Wear light clothes that are preferably dark colour and have lots of points into athletics. There you go, an assassin.

most medieval/fantasy assassins from the books i read use crossbows, and long knives/short swords. with the goal being to bury those big nasty bolts for the crossbow into them.

that said, hvy crossbow, and the espanda both work for gear keep it rather light, 12 str and 1 IF isnt going to give you a ton of HP, so arm wont help you. Id stick with the black hood with mask, leather vest, leather gloves (you can go to mail gaunts if you want more armor) and turkish shoes or khergit black leather boots.. goes very well together. In all honestly armor really comes down to personal preference, but id still keep it rather light, think of the armor archers wear.. that sort fo stuff.

Arbalest is the way. As for melee weapon, a mace is good. It's 2h, it has knockdown so with any luck after first hit they'll be on the floor and you can pummel away, and it's oneslot. Heavy crossbow is a bit shit since it's two slots, but doesn't have the damage to onehit anyone except maybe a peasant. Unless it's a headshot, anyway.

Or espada, with it's 30p it's got a good shot at one-hit if you do it in the head.

except the upkeep to arb's is garbage... and ive 1 shot plenty of people with the hvy xbow... lol

My fav 2 are

12/30 6ath 10mw Heavy Cross Bow - William Tell
12/30 10ath 4PS 2MW less than 3kg of Armour and a short fast in your face 1h, Nordic Short Sword, Italian Falcion, Scottish Sword.

+1 for the Arb being an over rated stink poo.

I was going 10-0 on siege with this build the other day with 280 ping

If you want to be light on your feet, i suggest a body piece under 3 - 5 weight.

Ask Gash. Also, look into this: http://forum.c-rpg.net/index.php/topic,11911.msg167989.html#msg167989 , if you have a chance to speak with gash in our ATS ventrilo he could give you plenty of information on being a successful assassin.
