I just saw Iron Sky and it's the worst fucking propaganda movie ever made.. don't download it.. If i were american I would sue them for wasting my time but unfortunatly I'm Swedish...

Watched it. It was good. It was not MEANT to be historically accurate. It was meant to be a fun movie.

And even if they made of fun of certain individuals heroes (Heroes = chocolate chip cookies) ( individuals = some special nationalists wink wink :).  Who cares?

It's meant to be a take the piss movie. I'm going to see it tonight. I first heard about this movie years ago when they released the teaser. Been looking forward to it ever since.

Well I did it, I watched it. Poor as piss. To call this movie a parody would be an insult to parodies as a genre. Terrible acting, cheap costumes and unamusing references to other movies. I had rather high expectations of the movie and I must say that I haven't been let down like this for a good while. If done properly the idea of "Moon chocolate chip cookies" would've propably even worked as a halfserious scifi movie or drama.

It was dumb and not in a funny way.

If you take it for what it is it's really enjoyable. It's not trying to hard and it's just taking the piss. I'd recommend it though probably won't watch it again any time soon.

I do understand fun. I use to watch comedy and think it's fun. but this movie however is not even fun.

TBH, isnt Iron Sky the movie about space chocolate chip cookies? Why would anyone go to that movie without seeing their local thc merchant and stoning some braincells? I think all movies like that should be taken at face value: Just some fun. Also, Finland has some really good movie producers. The guys behind Iron Sky for example also made an awesome Star Trek parody: Star Wreck: In the Pirkinning. The name alone is worthy of an award.

By that comment i don't think he was seriously insinuating that finns don't know anything about WW2 or chocolate chip cookies (Winter War etc etc) but more that these filmmakers didn't portray the chocolate chip cookies properly/had no idea how to portray them.

On the subject: Haven't seen it yet, but I think it's a shame that they are going for a joke movie itself (which is bound to fail) and not something like a cheesy B movie like Død snø

The setting of Iron Sky combined with the style of Død snø? I'd pay for that!

From what I've heard, it's more like Airplane! than Død snø.

Not necessarily, it was very well received in Swedish audience, myself included. I don't think I've ever laughed as much for a while.

Also, if you watch it, pay attention to the references. There is one epic reference from Der Untergang. :lol:

It is nothing like "Dead Snow" "Død snø" - which is a brilliant comedy.

Iron Sky is just awful, there's still a few laughs but seriously, swing and a miss, by far. The concept is still funny though.

Bjord, the thing about populair movies these days is, there are plenty of people that won't see it as a parody, and will form an opinion based on the parody, instead of the  reality. Now, one movie obviously won't make a difference that big, but if kids get fed hollywood from the moment they are born they won't know what reality is anymore.

And for the discussion that was going on on the previous page: I don't entirely understand this issue with "I'm not a chocolate chip cookie"/"You are a chocolate chip cookie", national socialism is an ideology, one decides for himself what ideology he chooses, if he says he's not a chocolate chip cookie, than why do you think you have the right to decide that he is?, he decides his own ideology, he knows what he is, not you. Just because somebody says something that a chocolate chip cookie "could have said one day" doesn't make him one. Just like how social democrats and communists have a lot things in common, but does that make them the exact same thing? No, if one claims he is a social democrat, he is.

If you have watched Der Untergang you remember that guy (forgot his name) who reports to einstein in Der Untergang and burns his corpse who's also in Iron Sky.

You watched it? Didn't we once try to watch it and then just decided to stop somewhere in the middle because it was crap? :D I don't really remember though. The english dub version was shit, that's 100% true.

I remember watching Star Wreck and liking it. I had high hopes for Iron Sky but they died soon after the first reviews and comments from friends who had seen it.

So I haven't watched it yet but I will someday.  There are many other movies that I want to see first and spare time is a luxury that I don't have at the moment.
