Title: 1.5 slot weapons.

what if bastard swords and unsheathable weapons(lances) used 1.5 slots so a hbs great lance and a 1 slot shield could be carried on horseback by a knight.

I don't know if this is possible.

The purpose of this idea is that it would stop archers, throwers and heavy crossbowmen from using long swords but give men at arms back their bastard swords.

It's not like it doesn't happen already with 0 slot shields
1.5 and .5 slot weapons would be a useful tool for balance though

It only buffs people that want to use 2 handed swords when dehorsed who cares.


More important is the fact that many weapons fit .5, 1.5, 2.5 categories. This is also good for shield users who deserve more diverse pro's and cons to shields .5 or 1.5 slot shields would be awesome.
Another class that would benefit would be hoplites, some spears would fit this 1.5 slot category.

This idea would increase the diversity of secondaries available to much of the cRPG community and aid in specific class and weapon balance.

it will increase load out variety.

1.5+1.5 slot and 1 slot.

2.5+1.5

^also the bastard swords, long sword and katana are not more powerful, or faster or longer than most cav 1H when used with a shield. So cav that choose to use it would be weaker on horseback and stronger on foot.

if devs want make people carry more weapons they can just make 5 slots insted of 4, but they dont do it. so no this .5 shit

If devs wanted to have archers/xbowmen use weapons they would make arrows/bolts 0.5 slots as currently if you use one of the high tier bows/xbows you either get 1 pack of arrows/bolts and 1 slot weapon or 2 packs of arrows/bolts and a 0 slot weapon.

^The reasoning behind 1.5 is that a 1.5 + 2 = 3.5 so effectively no more weapons can be carried other than maybe .5 and 0 slot weapons.


I don't think that ammunition should be half a slot but some bows and sidearms could be 1.5 and .5. This would promote standing and fighting for archers as they could use slightly better melee weapons.

it's definitely possible since crpg changed the slot regulations from native +1 since things like the buckler should only be .5

cav is fuckin OP as it is. they get 20 kill streaks on siege ON THE WALLS and you want them buffed lol.

Not a bad idea, but my point still stands.

Archers are specialised into archery, therefore, lack the PS and proficiency to be effective against dedicated melee builds.

Because of this, despite being more feasible in melee, they will still utilize their build to keep it at it's strength; archery.

So don't expect duels or anything, but just expect a better KDR from archers when they run out of shots and have to make a final stand.

Aztec you are stupid. If you cant beat cav when they are on foot and you cant beat them when they are on their pony no amount of cav nerfing will save you.

All classes will benefit from this in some way. Especially hoplites, half-swordsmen and a few hybrid builds. By making A few weaker/smaller weapons available to a wider cross section of the community game-play is only going to improve.

Most cav would not use bastard swords as they are weaker and shorter than many 1H when used in 1H mode. Those that readily get dehorsed might choose to take advantage of the speed and damage output of the long-sword, If they deem it of greater advantage than higher damage output from horseback.
