Title: Gameplay Poll
Post by: Andy on May 23, 2012, 11:52:50 pm
Don't be suprised. Some of the c-RPGers get really uptight about winning and forget that it is still just a game.

A game with elements of grind in it is not only about winning the matches (I don't really care about that in an arcade game). It's also about making progress.

As long as progress is linked with getting multi and winning the rounds, yes, there will be a lot of rage in cRPG. Actually more rage than I have ever seen in a game. But I don't play Dota-likes.

Mount and Blade or Crpg are completly Team Based (exept Deathmatch) you have to do teamwork to win! and not playing like all those killwhores not the K/D makes you win how good you can support does  as example if you hit an enemy  its good its okay if you doesnt killed him an mate can do it to so no need to run in a 5v1 gangbang fight and tkilling 4 of your teamates just cuz you wanted that kill those people makes you always loose i hate them

Not winning = no noticeable XP gain, constant money loss = no fun

Causal chain.

Yeah, what is if someone considers winning as the fun? Who looks at it more like a strategy game, than some "group duelling" where it's about your blocking skills...  :?:

I kinda feel that's not a very healthy way to look at games because you will probably not have fun during about half your playtime. Playing to win and having fun in the process of playing competitively is ok though.

Then they are most probably what one would know as a "baddie"  :P

Playing this game relaxed is the only way imho, I rage quite a bit, mostly at the stupidity of myself and my teammates but it's definitively not about winning for grinding for gear. If I played it like that I'd tire in a day.

I guess you two are perfectly right about this, and indeed I rage way too often because of my way to see the game.

But for me it's simply the fact that you are one of perhaps 30 to 50 players, and this makes me feel like there is a common goal to achieve, where every single one of us is less important. It's not about fighting against someone, it's about fighting with someone against someone else. That's the difference, and that's why my own performance, considering things like blocking, aiming and killing, never can be enough, I always feel like I am put in a real battle, like Azingcourt, Tannenberg or Hastings, and battles are to be won. What does it help me if I killed shitloads of enemies, if I lose the battle? It was battle mode, not duel mode. In duel mode I would be satisfied, in battle mode I am not.

I hope you understand what I want to say  :?

My team doesn't make me, I make my team.

Also I don't give a damn about winning/losing as long as I played well and had fun.

I think this is where we disagree. I don't believe one can argue about that, it's just personal preference.

Having Fun. If winning is circumstantially how I have fun than fine, but I'm not going to make it an end in itself because circumstances change and sometimes I just like to run around and troll or rp.
