Might help if you'd narrow it down a little. What type of games do you like? Or don't like.

Deus Ex the first one.

Give it time and it's a really (really!) good game, if a little rough around the edges.

HR was good, I liked the stealth and the lovely city level with its excellent map design and stunning visuals (dat skybox!) but the bosses fucking sucked and the last level + the ending are utter shite.

Well tbh you should not ask anyone playing c-rpg to recommend you games, because they are s/m.
Just look at suggestions:

Bosses sucked agreed. Last level..well i suppose. Loved Tae Young Medical so much though. Especially when you looked out when you were at the top floor. Beautiful from up there. And China was a nice place overall.

Played DX1 and a classic. Loved it.

Never played Invisible War though :l

Dungeon Crawl: Stone Soup:  Took me 4 years of playing almost every day to beat the game with a Human Wanderer.  If you can beat my record, I will be VERY impressed.

Dwarf Fortress: Not for the stupid or faint of heart.  DF is a game developed by a unemployed doctor of mathmatics and is just as complex as you would expect.  The graphics are all ASCII and the logical algorithms and AI of the game WILL bring your CPU to its knees.

X-COM: TFTD: This is the sequel to X-COM: Enemy Unknown, and for the most part takes place underwater.  It's fucking excellent and even easy difficulties will make you want to cry.

Battle for Wesnoth: It's a strategy game kinda like a mix of Breath of Fire and Heroes of Might and Magic - but it trancends both series and has a very unique 'feel'.

There are more, but very few people share my taste in vidja.  If anyone plays these and enjoys them, I have lots of other 'gold tier' games in the back of my mind. (of which M&B is definately one)

Legend of Grimrock (rpg "old style")

King Arthur ("total war-like" but more fantasy. Totally unbalanced, heroes are too strong, and shitty AI though)

Bastion (very short, but epic (for it's narration) action game)

Left 4 dead 2 (with friends. It's one of our favorite games in LAN)

I'll make a few recommendations from my currently installed games:

Just Cause 2 (http://store.steampowered.com/agecheck/app/8190/) is fantastic mindless fun. Think of it as Grand Theft Auto with a grappling hook. [Gameplay (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8BOtdFUDdFI)]

X3: Terran Conflict (http://store.steampowered.com/app/2820/) is a large-scale space sandbox game. Be warned that it has a steep initial learning curve, and can be very slow paced. You can fly a single ship around doing missions, and you can also build up a massive fleet of traders and combat ships. The story and voice acting are laughably terrible, but those aren't the main focus of the game. [Gameplay (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aIfkUqTZouo)]

Bastion (http://store.steampowered.com/app/107100/) is an isometric action game with decent writing and nearly perfect narration. [Gameplay (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VZAuKkv4eZE)]

Spelunky (http://spelunkyworld.com/original.html) is a free sidescrolling platformer partially inspired by roguelikes. Levels are randomly generated, and death is permanent (expect to die several hundred times before beating the game). [Gameplay (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ipOpT-aanfE)]

Don´t be so harsh. I tried it once because a friend had already started it, it´s actually pretty fun.
For 1 hour.

And then you realize you're fighting the same 4-8 assholes who've spent $50 on OP guns over and over again until you change to the other populated district that has 10 total people.

just tried and completed metro 2033, really shocked my balls off. I'd heard it was good but its fucking phenomenally good.

I wouldn't have said I was much of a fan of linear shooters but that was definitely the best one i've ever played, so bend over half life 2. Its got to be one of my favourite single player games of all time, and all the others are like sandbox/openworld, rpgs or both.

playing without UI is so immersive with the amazing graphics, at times part of me actually felt the game was real; I could tell because of the way I reacted sometimes. the story/setting is amazing, the game has no real flaws, or any way to obviously improve it except maybe optimisation (the game eats top end gfx cards for breakfast).

I don't remember ever finishing a game and thinking it couldn't be improved. pherhaps if i'd payed full price I'd be disapointed about length or something. Still I would love an open world sequel in the same setting/engine, but it would be a somewhat different type of game and not achieve the same level of story telling. (edit: guess I should try stalker)

I see just about everything that I would normally suggest in the thread already, but one thing I have to throw out there is Dark Messiah of Might and Magic. Not the longest or most difficult game I've played, but definitely one of the most fun (and it's $10 on Steam!).

APB- Its sweet game at first but eventually it turns into a grindfest. I still remember the time when me and other IL guys drove around the hood with a white van that had a pedobear sticker on it and said "free candy" and we made drivebys with it while listening to hard core rock.

Total War- They all cool, only difference is what age u like the most. Every time I get bored I play 1 of em.
Far cry 2-its just awesome
Anno 2070-World is fucked, build a town mothafucka and get ready to defend it(especially in multi)  :D
Sniper elite V2- Always cool to see in xray vision how your bullets go trough a chocolate chip cookies brain, bone, liver, heart or lungs

Games u may have not heard off before:
Xenus(aka Boiling point: road to hell)
Project zomboid- Zombie survival, where u have to kill zombies while fighting hunger, fear, sickness, thirst etc etc etc
Jagged alliance: Back in action- Loved it massivelly at first, but it started to suck more, the more I got closer to finishing the game.
