So after all these patches i wonder what i should loom now.
I am gen 5 now and i have a +3 bar mace, and that is the weapon i use most of the time.
A year ago most people said looming glooves is the best option after the weapon. I havent found my "perfect" body armor yet, so looming glooves seems still a good option.
But i also started to play a 2h/pole cav hybrid (i suck as cav, but i was bored from 4 gens as infantry), so maybe it would be a good idea to loom a horse?
Or maybe even the morningstar for more killing power from horseback?
I know, in the end i have to find the answer for myself, but i am really intersted what you guys think :)

I'm gen 16.
Being cav, looming my horse has had most impact, i think. I feel the difference between a non-loomed weapon and a +3 one is smaller than the differences between regular and a champion horse.
But, like you said, you have been infantry for 4 generations and have only started cav. So looming a horse might be unwise because you might reconsider and go infantry again next generation.
Hand armour is a safe choice. Whatever class you play, you should be able to use those. But does one really notice those few extra points of armour?
You could also do a bit of research before you heirloom anything; see what is popular at the moment and pick something that can easily be traded for something else (maybe even at a profit!)...

Loom armour , you will notice the differance between it and you can use it with each class.

Except the classes you cant...

Practise dagger.
-
armor then gloves. Cav is for noobs.
-
there is always that option to save your loom point for when your ready to use it so just take your time.
-
I loomed my mail mittens to +3. I've never taken them off since. The difference is night and day. (+3 armor -> +8)

Generally speaking while looming take into consideration the worth of the outcome item. Looming weapons is bad idea since market is full of them, either horse or parts of armor would be my choice.
-
dont look the prices, you loom what you want to use for whole crpg life. If you want to sell items, then it is better to sell 3 loompoints then loom stuff and sell it.
I have german gs and that is weapon i will use while i play this mode. I don't care how much it costs because it is not for sale. I loom gloves for myself,so you need to think good what you want to use,ad loom that

Thanks for the useful answers guys. I tend between looming glooves or a horse.
But like Aztec said, i will take my time and think about it. And i definitely dont want to sell a loom - if i loom it, i will use it.

Mail mittens

I'd loom a hornbow instead of a longbow, if I knew better.
-
Horse (if you use one) > Armour > Weapon > Shield (if you use one)
I regret looming my weapons first honestly.
-
When I had the same choice what to loom first I couldn't decide. So I loomed my scale gauntlets. It was the best decision, as I changed armor and weapons during the next gens and the only thing I always wore through all gens where my gauntlets. I switched to cav for a few gens but got quickly bored of it, especially after the patch when half the server was cav. I love killing cav now

IMO looming Mail Mittens or Rouncey works best atm.
But if you are really smart, you'll save loompoints till you have 3, then sell them all for like 2,1 millions. Then you can roll around in gold and buy whatever item you want.
-
sell sell sell!!!
Sell now while people can still pay through the nose then sit on the gold and start trading. You can use the market to get almost anything. I'm gen 7 and I've got 12 loom points, I would have 15 but I gave away a +1 and spent 900k on strat and accidentally gave my alt 260k and I'm still rolling around in money laughing, oh how I laugh.

Im almost level 31 for the first time and i'm thinking of saaving up my loompoints. Wy? Because, atm, im almost playing all classes on alts (no STF alts) and i'm still comparing everything on what I like most, I ussually play with véry cheap gear anyways. I will prob go an other spec next gen anyways +++ while im still learning the game and all that I dont want to make hasty decision which I might regret later on..

The difference between an unloomed horse and a loomed one affects the gameplay mechanics quite a lot (due to speed & maneouver changes).
Bows, crossbows and throwing weapons does as well but not armor and melee weapons. Keep this in mind.
Economically you would be best off looming mail mittens. Gameplay wise it would be best to loom a horse.

You could sell your loom points and use the money to buy items and start trading them. That's what I would do.
That way you can also use some +3 items a long the way.

That is a good idea aswell, because atm I can play fine with normal weapons anyways but i'll see. :)
