Is it possible to code weapons being dependant upon other items being equipped? One way to solve the return of "and I'll have a crossbow too" infantry turning combat into another FPS would be to require mechanical devices for reloading all but the lightest crossbow. To use any of the others you must have a windlass or a cranequin. A windlass would be cheaper but slower. A cranequin could be used on horseback (if this is possible; dependency on another item able to be used might be another coding problem) By forcing an extra slot to be occupied we limit crossbows to dedicated users who are willing to sacrifice either a shield (as archers usually do) or a melee weapon.

I like this but only if I get my dmg back to pre patch so I can blast through shields occasionally again. I only ever bring in one ammo slot an xbow and a dagger maybe sometimes a pike cause horses piss me off but I am more than willing to sacrifice my pike slot for a reloading device.

Some of the weapons/eq should take 2 or 3 slots instead of 1. I think that would do a trick.

polearms and 2h 2 slots..

The idea is intended to reduce the frequency of crossbow use, not to make everyone a sword and shield fighter.

I am against this, personally. Adding requirements like a Bow/Shield/Horse demands, or changing the wpf curve where higher is more accurate and anything less then 100 is a poor shot and anything under 50 is a wild guess would solve many problems.
Adding a crank means you will still see many 2Hers still use it (such as the famous Acre camp team on EU or any of the multitudes of others in many servers).

this is a bad idea. How do you think us tincans are supposed to counter light archers then? No. please no. Archers are perfectly annoying as they are (which is a good thing)

Nothing in my suggestion relates to archers.

I think he is saying that tincans need crossbows to counter archers.
