Title: a question about repairs

Are repairs only calculated when you are dead or is it after ever tick no matter state your character is in?

After every tick.

And for all gear you have at spawn, including things you picked up in the previous round. So be careful if you pick up a flamberge from the field, better drop it at the end of round or you might pay a lot of money for it ;)

Is it completely random when things get repaired or is it based on damage done to the items. i only ask because it seems that my gear breaks a lot more often when im playing cav.

There is a certain chance percentage for an item to break per minute, modified by wpf (not for horses ofcourse).

Because horses use a separate equipment slot and that you can't break the same slot twice, they increase your upkeep more than the additional equipment gold value of the horse.

Example : you will pay less upkeep using an armor 10k more expensive than the one you are using compared to changing from being a footman to using a 10k horse.
