Title: Question about the "No fantasy maps" rule.
Post by: FrugFrug on May 16, 2012, 05:46:08 am
Obviously flying castles and stuff like that wouldn't be allowed, but what about an underground castle type thing?

Had an idea for a siege map, (and we need new siege maps.) but I wouldn't want to spend all the time making it for nothing.

Well, Throughout history it has been done many times where castles/fortifications are built into the side of mountains, where even a majority of the fortification itself has been underground.
It's convenient, really. I'd do that if I was building one. Cuts down how many sides you can be attack from dramatically.

It wouldn't be fantasy, so no problem?

The map should fit for the Calradia world.
So medieval castles and stuff.

However not like in this pic:

You could make a Bandit hideout siege. Where the flag would be inside the cave with dungeon and tunnels.
Or like Marathon did say: A castle in side of mountain where the flag could be in dungeon underground ( see Kurosh city).

Would I have to make some part of the castle sticking out? I had planned on just sticking an entry in the side of a mountain.

Do it: maybe some small holes with raise/drop ladder access to get into the cave system, so attackers can get in to open main tunnel entrance, but remember to have a few "caverns" with galleries so gaibois with ranged weapons got something to do :D
