Title: Some basic questions
Post by: Aseplhood on May 14, 2012, 09:23:52 pm
Hey there.

Basically, I am wondering on few questions, which are basic... But cannot find any answer.

1) How much does recruiting cost? I've heard that nothing. And do you recruit one troop per hour ( depends probably on the chance in % )
2) How much strat gold is mostly one strat troop worth?
3) Upkeep on the armies. How does it work?
4) There's a battle, 49v49. Everyone equipped. One side wins. Will this side still have it's all eq + looted equipment?

That would be everything... I guess. Help me please

1) Nothing, but you have to pay hourly fee (1 in neutral castles)
2) Depends how you want to outfit him
3) It's for 50+ armies, so it mostly don't affect lone wolfs
4) All equipment they have in inventory and on themselves. Equipment of dead ones in lost.

Thank you for the reply. You've made everything clear, except 3rd question  :P

I do know, that until 49 troops, you pay no upkeep. But the case that bothers me is... how much do I pay, when I've got more troops.
I mean, 49 troops = no upkeep.
50 troops = ?

If I am right, every troop over 49 count costs 1 gold per hour? Correct me if wrong, please.

So I put Slamz's formulas into a spread sheet with some different troop amounts for people who are too lazy to do it themselves, you can download it here (http://www.ryandebuhr.com/upkeepChart.xls).

It has 50 men increments up until a 500 man army, then changes to 100 men increments up until a 5000 man army.

As rhalzo's quote said: http://www.ryandebuhr.com/upkeepChart.xls , this chart shows the amount of money you have to pay for your soldiers, you can change the number of soldiers and the price for upkeep will change as well.

So for 50 men you pay 1 gold per hour, 100 men 10 gold per hour, etc

Thanks for the reply.

Another question came up in my mind.
Is it possible to cancel a battle, when you already attacked on strat map?

I think you have 4 or 5 hours to cancel attack. But i never did it so better ask someone else.

I had to cancel an attack before, go to the strategus action menu, in the battle details you should have an option to cancel it, I don't think it is literally called Cancel, but it should be along those lines. I think you'll see it.

And I can do it whenever I want or to 4-5 hours after I attack?

only a couple hours after your attack, after that the option is gone.

When I wanted to cancel I asked on forums, and somebody told me 4 hours, and I retreated within 4 hours, so I'm not sure what the time limit is, but I guess it's around the 4-5 hours. You can also retreat when the battle starts, you will lose a lot of your equip, but not your men.

I lost 10 of 49 men when I cancelled.

And what will happen if a guy with for example 40 troops attack a guy with 1 troop, and noone shows for the battle?
(I mean, noone shows for the battle from either of the sides)

Well, nevermind the post above.

Should I sell trading goods at villages or cities?

I usually just find a place that buys for a higher price, and craft for as low as possible, I don't think there is a big(if any at all) difference between villages or cities.

Again back with a question...

How does the looting system works?
Like, I know few basic things... but don't really understand it fully.
Any volounteers to explain?
