Im pretty sure if you give in a signed confession for a crime, you go to jail, regardless of evidence.
and im pretty sure you are wrong, as law enforcement is what i do for a living. If a man comes in and says "oh hey, ya so i totally robbed this bank, and im here to turn myself in, signed Stabby Dave." They would just let you go if no victim came forth stating they were indeed robbed, simple as that. Of course they would take your statement, and info, and probably detain you for a short period of time until they check with area banks. But that would be it, and if someone did eventually come forward you would just get a criminal summons and a warrant to appear in court. Boom done, but what do i know, everyone on the interwebz is goddamn specialists in all fields regardless of your in life stature.
Shit if anything, and i just thought of this, you would receive a fine for lying to a official, which isnt jail time, if anything your commissioner will smack your hand and say "dont ever do it again" and you would be released on your own recognizance.
