Obviously money sinks are needed and this is one of them.
It's just 5% that you lose from the overall amount you get, decreasing the amount of gold in circulation over time.

What browser/version are you using? When it worked before try to reload with ctrl+f5 to clear the cache.

Doesn't work well with IE8 (misses a few features as you can see).

Fx. if you where to sell a lordly helmet for 1.700.000 before you would now have to change the offer to say... 1,785,000 to get about the same amount as before the update
