I'm curious if anyone plays this? I've personally never played Dota 1 but I have played HoN and League of Legends. Mostly a league fan here and I'm really intrigued by Dota 2. Has anyone played it/is still playing it?
How is it? It looks awesome.
I haven't gotten a beta invite yet, but I'll keep praying :D

I gave you (OP) a -1 for never playing Dota in WC III but only playing LoL (iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiih, disgusting game).

Dota 2 feels way to slow compared to hon.
-
It has slower turning speeds, no free courier, and lots of little things here and there that yeah, make Dota 2 not so much of a fast paced gank and push fest as HoN has become.
I admit though that Dota 2 has better heros, items, and balance. HoN just has the better pacing, where matches rarely get over an hour long, but Dota 2, especially with no concede, tends to drag out.
They are both fun games. I pretty much only play HoN's casual mode now, to load up on items and levels real fast and enjoy some twitchy MOMA combat.
Dota 2 has all the potential in the world though, and with Valve behind it, ya'll best get to learning it well!

Took me a day or two to find a hero I liked. Dragon Knight and Clinkz were pretty easy to start with.
If you want a super easy hero to try, use the Invoker, he is probably the easiest hero in the game.

I've tried Riki and Queen of Pain so far, I like assasin-like characters. My only problem so far is learning how to use this equus africanus asinus courier and what items to buy.

Add me on steam, just search for POPOHAMMER. I will help you out with that.

Pick Kel'Thuzad the Lich
very basic hero and the equivalent one of the first heroes recommended in hon .
What you do is Dark Ritual a creep to get mana so you always have mana - if you cast the spell away from the enemy they dont get the exp so you are higher levels then them , your first skill is a good nuke spell , he has a shield which you cast on all your team later in game and his ultimate is brutal when cast on 2-3 people next to one another.

Yah, I played a game with smoothrich and he showed me how to play him, he's good I like him. Nice burst damage and his ult rapes if used correctly.

venomancer best hero
-
Invoker against Pudge best hero, stunlock all the time every time.
(Cast cold snap when he casts rot, and enjoy the stun and damage hes taking because of not being able to turn it off since its damage every second and that shit stuns for a second.)
And Axe is pretty easy to play as, get a bottle, max Battle hunger, go in lane, spam it, drink bottle, spam it, and good job, you've won your lane by pressing one button!

i still remember the old shortcuts, i absolutely can't transform my mind into qwer ones :)

Tried Drow Ranger, reminds me exactly like Ashe from League of Legends. She's my new favorite auto attack champion next to clinkz.

The biggest change for me was probably getting use to the items and how the shops worked.
I still don't really understand the side shop...I can buy certain items from there but not others.
