Title: How much gear do you limit yourself to if you want to make money?
Post by: JekkJekk27 on March 17, 2011, 01:51:33 am
how much money worth of gear do you usually wear if you want to make a little money, instead of losing it with all max gear

That depends, playing with my clan on siege servers with banner-balance I would say 60k or more. Playing alone under/around 40k.
But I have enough money, so I usually play what I like to.
Heavy armor is really expensive and not really worth the money, you can take 1-2 hits more in plate then mail armor, but you are slower....
So I spend money rather on sniper x-bow brings more kills then gothic plate..

I found about 30k is max for me and I mostly break even.  If I want to make money fast I go under 10 k.

I always take a good weapon, no head armor, leather gloves and boots, and a simple tunic (you can change color according to the map :D).
And this, with every character i play, may he be an archer, a 2handers, a cav...

A straw hat, tribal warrior outfit, leather boots and gloves + spiked mace (2250) is my gold  farming gear. Below 5k all together, total upkeep is under 200 I believe.

I'll use heraldic mail with mail boots glove and kettle helmet with glaive or poleaxe on x1. After x3 ill switch the mail boots gloves and helm for a plate equivalent. On x5 i'll take plate. More for looks than anything as your slow as shit and are a big target. Especially with winged great helm.

I like to be light and mobile so untill I get 18 agi I stick with Red Tunic over Mail+Mail Gloves+Leather Boots+Nordic Huscarl's Helmet. After I get 18 agi I switch the body armor to Sarranid Guard Armor/Banded Armor. Anything heavier slows me down too much and it's too expensive to upkeep. As for weapons I use Longsword untill I get 18 agi, then German Greatsword.

Oh and if you are infantry foot armor is pretty much useless, I almost never use anything better than Leather Boots, so you can save some money there.

Klappvisier
Heraldic Mail with Tabard
Mai Chausses
Mail Mittens
Weapon of choice mostly German Greatsword

Always make money without a bad luck streak though, but i don't keep track of it anymore having a dragontreasure of > 300k
The best way to make  bunch of money is to retire because of the long period of time you run around in cheap armor.
Though if i really want to make money i would choose:

Kettle Hat
Yellow Tunic over mail
Mai Chausses
Mail Mittens
Heavy Bastard Sword / Longsword / TwoHanded Sword

how come?

skilled players will aim for your feet if you use leather boots - then you will get killed in 1-2 hits in your lordly black armor

Well skilled players are a rare thing :o . Unless you go around barefoot most pubbers won't even try to hit your legs, the only downside is the random projectiles that hit you in the feet and take a large chunk of you hp.
